BATS

Chapter Three: Back at the Junkyard...

At the junkyard, most of the Jellicles were frantic, and screaming in terror.  At least ten of the gigantic bats were flying above, swooping down and striking down many of the terrified felines.

Munkustrap and Alonzo succeeded in bringing one of the beasts down, and it died soon after hitting the ground.

"What is that thing?" asked Lonzo.

"It looks like a bat to me," Munk replied.  "But I've never seen one that was that big before, or one with fangs like that."

"I've never even seen a bat, so don't ask me about it," Lonzo said.

"I wasn't going to.  Duck!" Munk yelled suddenly, as a bat swooped down, and carried Lonzo away.  He hadn't ducked.

"Oh crud," Jellylorum laughed from nearby.

"Jellylorum!  What're you doing here?  And this is no laughing matter," Munk hissed.  Something about her seemed terribly wrong.

"What'm I doing here?  That's quite simple, Munkustrap.  I can control them.  They are my creation, and I have no reason to be afraid or leave," she replied.

"Right.  You can control them.  I doubt it," Munk replied.  No Jellicle could possibly control them.  She must be crazier than I thought.

"I do, Munkustrap.  I created them because your grandfather didn't let me go to the Heaviside Layer!  He chose my idiotic sister the 'glamour cat' instead!  It will prove to be a fatal mistake." Jelly finished her sentence with a fit of evil laughter.
