My Written Answers
What is your personal testimony? How did you come to Christ?
The Lord blessed me with a Christian mother.
When I was little, my Mom began "trying to find
herself" religious-wise. We tried out churches
of nearly every stripe: Baptist, Methodist,
Presbyterian, Christian, Church of Christ, Church
of God, Lutheran, Episcopal, Pentecostal,
Non-Denominational, etc. I value the rich
diversity of worship styles and sermon topics
those years. The one constant among all these
churches was a deep respect for the Word of God.
Even now, I do not strongly affiliate with any
particular denomination -- I judge a church by
the scriptural references in the sermons and the
warmth of godly fellowship (see next question).
Describe your Christian walk today? How do you keep close to God? What are your church or ministry responsibilities?
Well ... Last Sunday I had a marathon churching
day. It started out with a visit to my Mom's
singles class. After the Baptist sermon, all the
singles went out together for a long lunch. Then
I headed over to my new church for the membership
class before the evening service (Presbyterian
seed church). After the service, a bunch of us
went out to dinner together. It was a terribly
long but wonderful day. I don't know if I am
going to keep double-churching, but it is fun for
now.
Do you have favorite verses, Bible passages or biblical characters? What impact have they made on you?
Some of my favorite verses are quoted in my
answer to the next question. I have a special
fondness for the verse "He restoreth my soul" in
the 23rd Psalm -- No matter how broken we are, we
can stand on the promise that God will restore
us, even if the break is all the way down to the
heart and soul.
What kind of personal & spiritual goals do you have? Where do you see yourself in the next year? In 5 years?
**** "Make it your ambition to lead a quiet life,
to mind your own business and to work with your
hands, just as we told you, so that your daily
life may win the respect of outsiders and so that
you will not be dependent on anybody." (1 Thess
4:11-12 NIV) ****

I don't know what God has planned for me:
Physics grad school? a computer training career?
a husband and family? or, maybe something I've
never even dreamt of. I am trying to look at
this uncertainty of direction as the wonderful
anticipation you feel as you begin to open a gift
-- because that's what the Christian life really
is: God giving us blessings and trials to grow
us into the perfect children we were meant to be.

**** "'For I know the plans I have for you,'
declares the LORD, 'plans to prosper you and not
to harm you, plans to give you hope and a
future.'" (Jer 29:11 NIV)
How would you describe your appearance? (ie physique, distinguishing features, fashion, etc.)
Curly red-ish brown hair, chocolate brown eyes,
soft body for nice hugs (see photos). I smile a
lot and joke that my 'default' is a grin. If
there are kids around, you'll probably find me
down on the ground with them. My clothes aren't
high-fashion, mostly a top with a long skirt. If
you had told me I'd be wearing skirts like this
back when I was in high school, I probably would
have laughed at you. But the modesty is actually
more liberating than I ever imagined.
What is your personality like? What are your character traits? (ie funny, serious, laid back, orderly, etc.)
I'm generally upbeat and live up to the name
my mother gave me: Sunny. However, I do have a
serious, contemplative side. During my moody
teenage years my father called me Party-Cloudy (I
was a bit on the 'punk' side at the time).
What forms of entertainment do you enjoy? What are your favorite movies, actors, music, T.V. shows, etc.
I go to the movies every week with a bunch of my
friends (and sometimes my mom -- she's cool that
way). We have a lot of fun discussing the movies
afterwards. We'd love to have more folks in the
Atlanta area join us (FYI: We do see rated R
movies sometimes -- so, I'm a good person to ask
about the nudity / language / violence content of
recent films). If you're interested in joining
us, contact me and I'll let you know what movie
we're seeing this week and all the details.

I love lots of kid-oriented stuff (maybe because
I want to have kids or maybe because I never
stopped being one!). I've gotten my mom and my
roommate totally addicted to the VeggieTales
(don't tell anyone, but I have a crush on Larry
the Cucumber). *grin*
What are your interests, hobbies & activities? Are you involved in any clubs or organizations?
I love road trips and have traveled all around
the South, some in New England, and a 15-day huge
circle out West (5,000 miles on the rental car --
they're going to think twice before they offer me
"unlimited mileage" again!).
How do you spend your day? What is your job? What are your family responsibilities?
My friend 'Anonymous B' just bought a townhouse
and I rent half of it from her. We have a lot of
fun reading books while the other one cooks or
cleans up. I've read her "The Hiding Place" by
Corrie ten Boom and the entire "Chronicles of
Narnia" series by C.S. Lewis. We find that it
isn't too hard to get motivated to cook/clean
when it is an enteraining team effort.
Describe how life was growing up. Where did you live? How was your family life? What schools/colleges did you attend?
My parents got divorced when I was two years old.
I'd see my father on holidays, mostly. Just
before I turned eleven, they both got remarried
to other people. I had gotten very used to it
just being Mom and me, so there was a fair amount
of rebelliousness in that household. I didn't
hear from my father or his parents for several
years. (I'm skipping a whole lot of plot here
-- travel, death, failed semester in college,
five years working, sucessful college, etc.)
My parents (Mom and Step-Dad) and I finally
started to get along after we no longer lived in
the same house. In the last year, both of my
fathers have died and my mom has become just
about my best friend in the world (Hard times do
draw folks together.).
What kind of relationship are you looking for? What character traits are you looking for? What would be your ideal place to meet?
You know ... there was once a time when I was
kinda picky about guys. Now, I'm not so picky as
rather looking for the one that God has picked
for me. Someone once said that statements
that begin with "I WILL NEVER ..." are just
invitations for God to test your will versus His.
So, all things said, I'm pretty agreeable to
hanging out with anyone who is a serious
Christian.
Anything else you would like to add? Any last words?
I have a website that is sadly neglected. I have
written up a statement of what I believe and a
modern-day parable that you can find there. I
posted a page called "Questions About God" that
would allow anyone with a question to anonymously
submit a question for me to research and post the
answer on the page. Sadly, noone has ever taken
me up on the offer. I think there is a lot of
room on the Internet for showing people that you
can be a hip, intelligent person and still be a
Christian. I guess that's what I try to project,
anyway.
