"Is that the politically correct term?"
At the beginning of this episode, they show the material that's in some capsule thing that NASA shot out into space to tell potential alien planets about us good ol' Earthlings. They have a little recording thing of a guy saying "Greetings from plant earth...[blah, blah, blah]" but the thing that bothers me about this is that the guy has like a European type accent. I mean, geez! Come on! Americans shot that sucker out there! Shouldn't we get to be the ones to greet the aliens?! I mean, it's bad enough that our own planet thinks American speaking sounds inferior, we don't need to cultivate that into the minds of foreigners who don't know this!
I liked that the one student girl in Scully's "Autopsy 101: Lop off the head" class said Scully sounded "spooky". Maybe Mulder should wear a sign warning that excessive exposure makes one exhibit similar strange behavior. We could all testify to that, I think.
Alright, has anyone counted the number of scenes that have taken place in parking garages on this show? That would be an interesting thing to find out. If anybody knows, please tell me!
Geez, I wish you folks out there could see my writing. Honestly, "I'm not being flippant." I feel that the look of my writing sort of conveys something additional to these reviews. The reason I use the John Handy font on the graphics of my site is because I think it looks a lot like my writing. Maybe I'll scan some of these reviews someday...
How about those inconspicuous undercover agents tracking Scully? I know they shouldn't exactly be wearing sunglasses and trench coats, but don't you think a pink jumper and flowery orange shirt are a bit much? I also enjoy that they don't talk to each other and when Scully turns around, they turn around. And not like smooth turn around, it's more like a seeing-your-chemistry-teacher-in-McDonald's-during-summer-vacation turn around [I just did one of those this morning!]
Yay. Now we're at the big, climactic "deja vu Mulder/alien" scene. Then Scully finds Mulder passed out on the floor and asks him if his Senate informant is Ted Kennedy [come on, you have to admit, that was funny!].
Oh, now a Contra is coming! They must have thought Scully was trying to smuggle weapons into Puerto Rico! She's just hiding a baby, really, but wasn't the Contra joke very Dennis Miller of me?
Oh, back in the day, before Gillian and David were big-time stars and would actually say positive things about this show. Those were the days! :)
