An almost complete concert, and one from the tail end of the Construction Time Tour, Hysterika is definitely worthwhile. Though there is some drop-off at the end of “And Then…”, and even though Dave is probably inebriated by “New Life,” this CD is still a definitive early DM concert. It should also be noted that despite earlier Construction Tour concerts, the tempo of this concert is particularly fast: “Shame,” “The Landscape is Changing” and “And Then...” all attest to the heighten speed of the concert. “See You,” for example, resonates so fast that it sounds like the eerie music you would hear while watching Jason (from ‘Friday the 13th’) or Michael Myers chase their victims. In fact, “See You” reminds me of something I heard while watching old-Italian horror movies.
