Everything Counts
For
the longest time, I thought Hopelessly Devoted and Higher Love
were the same bootleg. Goddamnit was I ever wrong. Higher Love is
way, way, Milky Way better than Hopelessly Devoted. Not because
Higher Love includes more songs from the June 30th show ("A Question
of Lust," "Death's Door," and "Get Right With Me"), but because the sound
is infinitely superior to that of Hopelessly Devoted! You can clearly
hear the cellos during "One Caress," and I mean clearly!!! Overall, this
recording is clearer, louder, and more vibrant. however, this recording
misses all the awesome audience noise found on Hoplessly Devoted,
such as the soccer-chants, the girl screaming after "Enjoy The Silence"
as well as Dave laugh for her.
