Heat Details
1. Charlie Gjedde(67.62) Martin Dixon, Paul Clews, Alan Mogridge(f/rem) 2-4, 2-4, 44-52
Charlie gates and is away and gone, Mogridge falls whilst in last place and not a challenging position.
2. Mark Steel(70.05) Ritchie Hawkins, Marc Norris, Shane Colvin 5-1, 7-5, 49-53
Steel is a class above in this heat, Hawkins rides very close to the boards but beats the Reading duo comfortably.
3. Claus Kristensen(68.08) Oliver Allen, Armando Castagna, Dave Mullett 5-1, 12-6, 54-54
Also processional, once the Robins are out of the gate they are away, Castagna challenged Olly but not too much.
4. Paul Fry(68.89) Phil Morris, Ritchie Hawkins, Shane Colvin 4-2, 16-8, 58-56
Morris beats Fry out of the gate but Fryer takes him on turn two, from there the result is in no doubt.
5. Charlie Gjedde(68.27) Oliver Allen, Claus Kristensen, Paul Clews 3-3, 19-11, 61-59
Olly gated well but Charlie was faster, much faster.
6. Alan Mogridge (68.43) Martin Dixon, Phil Morris, Marc Norris 5-1, 24-12, 66-60
The Robins are lightening out of the gate and the Racers have no answer to them!!
7. Paul Fry (68.45) Armando Castagna, Dave Mullett, Mark Steel 3-3, 27-15, 69-63
Steel gated but the Racers had him before the end of the first lap, Fryer was already gone.
8. Martin Dixon (69.02) Armando Castagna, Paul Clews, Ritchie Hawkins 3-3, 30-18, 72-66
Clews and Castagna(in for Colvin) gated ahead of Dixon, Dicko tried the outside pass on Castagna on lap two but failed
then on the second turn of the third lap he went around the outside of the Italian and flew up the back straight to
catch and pass Clews on turn 3/4 and takes the chequered flag, quality ride!!
9. Charlie Gjedde(67.64) Oliver Allen, Dave Mullett, Claus Kristensen(ef) 2-4, 32-22, 74-70
Gjedde gates again but the Robins hold the minor positions until Kristensens engine goes, gifting the Racers a 4-2.
10. Armando Castagna(67.74) Martin Dixon, Alan Mogridge, Dave Mullett(ef) 3-3, 35-25, 77-73
Mullett has an ef whilst in third, gifting the 3-3 to the Robins as Moggo was out of it.
11. Charlie Gjedde(68.45) Paul Fry, Mark Steel, Paul Clews 3-3, 38-28, 80-76
Charlie gates to become the first rider to win a race that Fry has finished in in official matches this year. Clews stops whilst last.
12. Armando Castagna(68.30) Claus Kristensen, Ritchie Hawkins, Marc Norris 3-3, 41-31, 83-79
Castagna and Kristensen have a good tussle, the Italian wins through to keep the bonus point situation finely balanced.
13. Charlie Gjedde(69.80) Paul Fry, Phil Morris, Alan Mogridge(ret) 2-4, 43-35, 85-83
Morris tries to put Fryer and Moggo in the fence on the first turn, Fryer escapes but Moggo does not, a bit uneccessary.
14. (Re-run)Oliver Allen (72.48) Dave Mullett, Shane Colvin(ef - exc lapped) Mark Steel(ef) 3-2, 46-37, 88-85
Re-run as Steel rolled at the start. Olly gated ahead of Mullett and fought off his challenge, Steel ef'd on lap 2, Colvin lap 3.
15. (Re-run)Charlie Gjedde(70.39) Paul Fry, Oliver Allen, Phil Morris(f/ex) 3-3, 49-40, 91-88
This is the race where this local derby erupted, Reading needed a 5-1 to take the bonus point from this encounter, as the tapes went up,
Gjedde streaked away with Morris behind and Fry and Olly had to chase, on the second turn of lap 2 Fry tried to go up the inside of Morris
and Morris just cut straight acroos he front of him, causing a nasty crash, with both riders down Fry, obviously still unhappy about the
treatment he recieved from the same rider in heat 13 jumped to his feet grabbed Morris and headbutted him. Fry then had to be restrained by
his team mates. Morris was excluded from the re-run and Gjedde swept through the race to record an immaculate 18 point max.

A bitterly cold night at the Abbey was something of a suprise after a day that had been bright, sunny and warm and as the parade was
finishing heavy rain began to fall on a track that looked like it had been watered already, causing a five minute delay to heat number one.
When the racing began it was somewhat processional with not much passing, the only notable pass being Mad Dog Dixon taking both Clews and
Castagna in Heat 8. As the night wore on it got progressively colder and began snowing quite heavily in the interval before Heat 13, though
the atmosphere warmed quite considerably during the Heat 15 flashpoint. This was controversial and nobody but those involved will know why
it happened but seriously there is no excuse for this in a family sport and I do not really agree with Fry being allowed back in the re-run.
(It was one hell of a good shot though!!)
