Krister Marsh(68.93) Ritchie Hawkins, Mark Steel(15yrd tapes) Nick Simmons. 3-3, 6-6, 54-47 Steel goes right through the tapes and in the re-run is past Simmons on the pit bend of the first lap, but Krister is already away, though Ritchie chases hard he cant find a way past. 3. Glenn Cunningham(67.14) Oliver Allen, Emil Linqvist, Alan Mogridge. 2-4, 8-10, 56-51 Tapes to Flag, Moggo didnt even challenge after both the Robins gated well. 4. Paul Fry(66.93) Paul Pickering, Krister Marsh, Ritchie Hawkins(fell). 3-3, 11-13, 59-54 Hawkins well on the pace, tried to round Marsh on the last bend but came off. 5. Glenn Cunningham(67.37) Oliver Allen, Alan Mogridge, Tommy Palmer 3-3, 14-16, 62-57 Cunningham again gates and Oliver fails, Mogridge looks like he was up for the chase but Olly looked rather unsteady in front and held him back for two laps, when Moggo finally got past, the opportunity for a chase was gone. Moggo then slowed on the back straight(purposely) and Olly went through for second. 6. Claus Kristensen(67.74) Martin Dixon, Paul Pickering, Nick Simmons. 5-1, 19-17, 67-58 The Robins are away from the gate. 7. Paul Fry (67.64) Krister Marsh, Emil Linqvist, Mark Steel(ret). 3-3, 22-20, 70-61 Fryer gets away, Steel doesnt look like he wants to chase and pulls up on lap two. 8. Martin Dixon (67.86) Krister Marsh, Tommy Palmer, Ritchie Hawkins. 3-3, 25-23, 73-64 Dicko is away from the gate, Ritchie along with the Wasps are all bunched up but a bit of team riding keeps him out. 9. Alan Mogridge(66.71) Paul Pickering, Oliver Allen, Nick Simmons(f/r). 4-2, 29-25, 77-66 Moggo fiannaly gates and is neck and neck with Pickering down the back straightbut the Robins fans cheered when oggo didnt back off and fought his way to the front, staying there. Simmons fell on lap 3 but remounted, made no difference. 10. Claus Kristensen(68.58) Emil Lindqvist, Martin Dixon, Emil Lindqvist. 4-2, 33-27, 81-68 Dixon gated and lead with Kristensen second and Lindqvist all over his tail pipe, Kristensen gets past Dixon but unfortunately he takes Lindqvist through as well, turning a 5-1 into a 4-2. 11. Glenn Cunningham(66.37) Paul Fry, Mark Steel, Paul Pickering(f). 3-3, 36-30, 84-71 Pickering dived to the right out of the gate and Closed Fryer out, Fryer came back at him and took him, but Glenno was gone already, Pickering then fell unchallenged whilst third. 12. Glenn Cunningham(67.39) Oiver Allen, Emil Linqvist, Ritchie Hawkins. 2-4, 38-34, 86-75 Tapes to flag, Olly splits the Wasps duo to keep the match balanced on a knife edge. 13. Paul Fry(66.62) Claus Kristensen, Paul Pickering, Glenn Cunningham. 5-1, 43-35, 91-76 Fryer gates (yes actually gates!!) along with Kristensen and the Newport pair have no answer to make match + bonus safe. 14. Alan Mogridge(67.80) Emil Lindqvist, Mark Steel, Krister Marsh. 4-2, 47-37, 95-78 Tapes to flag for all four, Moggo gets his second win of the night. 15. Claus Kristensen(67.64) Paul Fry, Glenn Cunningham, Paul Pickering. 5-1, 52-38, 100-79 Almost a carbon copy of heat 13, with Kristensen winning and Fryer holding second after another gate. Cunningham is quite obviously tired out, this was his 14th ride in 3 days. Bit chilly at the Abbey tonight but not too bad, after heavy rain in the morning it dried out in the afternoon to create the best racing surface so far this season, the fastest time of the season was set twice, both by Cunningham, in heats 1 and 11, with times being under 67 seconds for the first time this season. There was some good racing and Newport kept the interest alive by keeping it close going into the final 3 heat, before the Robins moved up a gear. For the Robins Kristensen and Fry both looked good value for their paid 14, Clausy proving he can do a job at no.1. Dicko looked as reliable usual and Moggo looked better in his last two rides. Ritchie Hawkins looked much better than his 2 points but Olly and Steeler stuggled a bit on the night. For Newport Cunningham didnt look like getting beat until the last two races, though fatigue may have had something to do with it. Pickering and Lindqvist were disappointing but kept the Wasps in it. Palmer looked better than his solitary point and Krister Marsh was impressive from reserve. Nick Simmons was not at the races.
