Martin Dixon (68.18) Claus Kristensen, Lee Smethills, Carl Stonehewer(ef). 5-1, 5-1, 50-46 Stoney gates but as it looks like he will win the race big his engine goes on turn 3 of lap 1, leaving Dicko and Clausy to take a fortunate 5-1. Ht 2. Justin Elkins (69.27) Ritchie Hawkins, Mark Steel, David McAllan. 3-3, 8-4, 53-49 Elkins shocks everybody not only by going for a whole race but winning it aswell!! Efkins out after the second turn. Ht 9. Alan Mogridge (68.02) Carl Stonehewer, Peter Karlsson, Charlie Gjedde. 3-3, 34-20, 79-65 Karlsson and tac sub Stoney gate and look to try and team ride but its too late as Moggo pulls a cracking outside pass on the pair of them coming off of the third/forth bends of the first lap, Charlie can't make an impression. Ht 10. Martin Dixon (68.55) Mick Powell, Claus Kristensen, Rusty Harrison. 4-2, 38-22, 83-67 Dicko away from Powell who looks a bit better than he has, Clausy continues to look bad. Ht 11. Carl Stonehewer (67.11) Paul Fry, Mark Steel, Lee Smethills. 3-3, 41-25, 86-70 Stoney beats Fryer from the gate who is trying almost too hard to get back on par with him, he doesnt like to be beaten around the Abbey! Alan Mogridge (67.68) Peter Karlsson, Carl Stonehewer, Martin Dixon. 3-3, 54-36, 99-81 Moggo from the gate to round off an impressive 15 point maximum. Dicko trails in last. A big crowd turned out for this semi-final on a night that, once the clouds had gone was bright, sunny and warm, great weather for Speedway!! A great match transpired As Workington tried to make a match of it, but after Peter Karlsson and Carl Stonehewer the were largely unimpressive. For the Robins the plus point were Alan Mogridge returning a perfect 15 point score and our reserves outscoring their Workington counterparts by Paid 13 to 3. Worrying for the Robins was the dismal form of Claus Kristensen, paid six to follow paid 8 at home last week, we home he gets himself sorted soon. Good team performance(once again) and the Robins will now go on to meet either Sheffield or Isle of Wight in the final, which will be the Robins third succesive cup final!
