Heat Details
Ht 1 Kristensen,Pickering,Hawkins,Cartwright

From the gate and then all strung out till the end.

Ht 2 Armstrong,Steel,Felton,Hawkins

5-1 to Potters out of the gate, but Steeler forces his way past Felton
on lap 2 and that's the way it finished.

Ht 3 Atkins,Moggo,Dixon,Burrows

5-1 for swindon into the first corner but Atkins takes the usual stoke
line around everyone to lead into the back straight, and again no
passing as this is how it finished.

Ht 4 Stekkers, Hawkins, Fry, Armstrong

Stekkers leads into the 1st turn and fryer is behind ritchie, fryer
looks behind and then spends the rest of the race blocking armstrong
out who really never looks interested in passing.

Ht 5 Kristensen, Moggo, Atkin, Burrows

Easy 5-1 to swindon from the gate, with Atkins not really putting real
pressure on the swindon pairing. But a th back a very subdues Buzz
struggles with the track which surprised me a lot.

Ht 6 Pickering, Fry, Steel, Cartwright

4-2 from the gate with Pickering leading Fry, Cartwright swings right
across Steel forcing him to slow quickly to avoid a crash. But Steeler
passes Cartwright easily by the home straight at the beginning of lap
2. Fry never really puts any pressure on Pickering and that how they
finish.

Ht 7 Moggo, Stekkers,Felton, Dixon FREM

3-3 each from the tapes with Dixon at the back, on the 4th corner he
tries to go around Felton who drifts slightly and Dixon clips his rear
wheel and falls. Stekkers doesn't really challenge Moggo and that's how
it finishes.

Ht 8 Armstrong,Felton,Hawkins,Dixon FX

In the first running Dixon makes the gate but falls on the exit of turn
2 when in the lead, Felton lays it down but still hits Dixon. Luckily
both are OK and Dixon gives Felton a lift back to the pits. In the
rerun a easy 5-1 to stoke to bring the score back level.

Ht 9 Atkins,Fry,Steel,Burrows FX

Fry from the gate but by keeping in mid track allows Atkins the run
round the outside which he obligingly takes to lead down the back
straight. Steel is at the back but get 3rd when Buzz Burrows falls on
lap 2.

Ht 10 Moggo, Pickering, Dixon, Cartwright.

From the gate till the tapes

Ht 11 Felton, Kristensen,Stekkers,Steel EF

This is were we lost the match as the rain starts, Felton winds it on
the outside again to lead followed by Steeler, stekkers and Claus swap
places a few times as the riders slip around the track. Stekkers is in
3rd when Steeler has an EF, and stekkers goes around the outside of
Steel while Claus K goes down the inside and around the white line to
grab 2nd place.

Ht 12 Atkins,Hawkins,Armstrong,Dixon EF, Steel EX 2MINS

Getting very bad now, the riders come out of the first turn in a 3-3
and proceed to follow each other around, it stays that way until Dixon
finishes his day off by having a EF as his engine succomes to the
water. A 4-2 to stoke was the result, and this is where the ref should
have stopped the meeting and declared the result.

Ht 13 Pickering, Stekkers, Fry, Kristensen FX Not sure as my proramme
has run:)

On an by now very wet track Claus K 360's on the first turn and ends up
in a heap. On the way back to the pits he gives the ref a idea as to
the track conditions and has a few words with the stoke faithful. Don't
think either party to the discussion understood the other though..:) In
the rerun an easy 5-1 from the gate for stoke, with all the riders
obviously concentrating on getting around without taking anyone else
off. Fry stays a respectful distance behind the stoke pair and is not
really riding hard as he seems to hardly have the throttle on at all.
After the race lots of head shaking by the riders and Stekkers tours
around to tell the ref what he thinks of it all.

Ht 14 Moggo, Burrows, Armstrong, Hawkins

From the gate in a very slow and CAREFUL procession. This is not racing
Mr Mick bates!! as a former rider why did u keep this meeting going???

Ht 15 Fry.Moggo, Pickering, Stekkers F again not sure if fry or Moggo
won this one.....

Another very slow procession, Fry nearly bounces off the fence a few
times but Stekkers parks it on the last lap and stays down for 4 or 5
mins, picks himself up and limps to in from of the refs box and after
quieting the stoke fans shouts to the ref "are u satisfied now".
Apparently he broke his collarbone in the crash and i for one hopes
Mick Bates has a deep think about his actions.

Paul Pickering If he gated was OK, if he didn't no way was he
    gonna pass.

Simon Cartwright Where was the rider from a few years ago???
    Please tell me.

Tony Atkin Benefitted from being allowed to drive around
the 2nd turn all night, don't the swindon riders know that
yet?

Buzz Burrows Will the real Buzz please stand up????

Stekkers Unfortunately bust his collarbone, Stoke won
but at what cost?

Dean Felton The match winner this guy was way better than i
ever imagined he could be. Well done

Jon Armstrong Gating Tart as always.

Swindon
Claus Kristensen : Unbeaten till the rain arrived, improved out of
this world compared to his first match for swindon here. Looked a real #1

Martin Dixon : Had a real stinker, say no more. Hopefully this is
not an indication of how he will ride at #3 for us?

Alan Mogridge : Mighty Moggo, what more can one say, by
reputation not his best track but did the business tonight.

Paul Fry : Another subdues meeting for fryer, bikes seem to have
lost there edge.

Mark Steel : A very satisfying return to stoke after his bad crash
here last time, was the only rider to pass anyone, Felton in Ht 2
and Cartwright in Ht 6. I personally would have replaced Ritchie
H with Steeler in heat 8 after Dicko was excluded.

Ritchie Hawkins : Was a good debut at stoke one of the trickier
tracks in the league, will do better in future.

In conclusion the rain cost us this match as i think the score would
have been very different had the rain held off. Claus and Moggo i am
sure would have seen us through the last heats to victory.
Unfortunately that was not to be, fair play to stoke who through the
performance of dean Felton managed to subdue the scoring of Steeler and
Ritchie H. Plus Dicko having his worst meeting for us i can remember
didn't help.

As for the much maligned stoke track it was very grippy and performed
really well, but it seemed to cause Dicko and Buzz no end of problems,
odd that.

But the big thing about this meeting is how the hell it did not stop at
heat 12? Mr Mick Bates is a former rider and i hope he feels good about
allowing this meeting to continue and the resultant broken collarbone
to Jan Steachmann.???
