Heat 1: Eriksson, Dixon, Shields, Kristensen 4-2 [4-2] From the gate 3-3 but RR Shields cuts under Claus and gives chase after Dicko but can't make much impression. Heat 2: Hawkins, Rossiter, Henry, Shields FX 1-5 [5-7] In the first running swindon were on a 4-2 when shields overcooks it and falls. From the rerun the Robins make the gate and Rosco lets Ritchie go and settles to keep Henry at the back by riding on Henry's favoured outside line. Heat 3: Andersen, Allen, Mogridge, Carr 3-3 [8-10] From the gate it's a 3-3 and again swindon settle for the 3-3 as Moggo sits on Carr's inside run and Carr is held at the back to the surprise to the locals. Heat 4: Fry, Andersson, Shields, Hawkins 3-3 [11-13] Fry sweeps from the gate with Hawkins but the Edinburgh pair easily power past him on the back straight on the first lap but cannot get close to Fryer. Heat 5: Andersen, Carr, Kristensen, Dixon 5-1 [16-14] From the gate, easy 5-1 for the slick gating Monarchs. Heat 6: Eriksson, Fry, Rossiter, Henry 3-3 [19-17] Another split race with Eriksson winning easily while Rosco again rides a wide line to frustrate Henry. Heat 7: Shields, Allen, Mogridge, Andersson FX 3-3 [22-20] Andersson is excluded for falling and in the rerun Ollie and Moggo make the gate and ride easily on a 5-1, with Moggo inside and Ollie riding wide. Shields makes a good pass on Moggo, Ollie at the front is oblivious to this and is passed by Shields as he still rides the wide line leaving a big hole for Shields to pass. Probably the moment that decided we would not win this meeting, as of we had held on to the 5-1 it would have really put the pressure on the Monarchs. Heat 8: Andersen, Dixon, Shields, Hawkins 4-2 [26-22] Jan Andersen was used as rider replacement and made another perfect start to lead, Shields was temporarily in 2nd but Dicko sweeps past and sets of after Andersen who despite some great aggressive riding is unable to pass Andersen. Heat 9: Andersen, Carr, Rossiter, Fry 5-1 [31-23] Peter Carr was penalised for running into the tapes. He opted to come back in off a 15-metre handicap. Jan Andersen makes the gate and heads off into the distance and Carr sets off after Fry and Rossiter, Fry blocks the inside line for a couple of laps and Carr suddenly switches to the outside and inches past only to lose it again, but gets past again and then uses the speed he gained to pass Rossiter in the run up to the tapes. Heat 10: Eriksson, Allen, Mogridge, Henry 3-3 [34-26] Henry came in as RR in this heat and touched the tapes, in the rerun he went off 15M and Eriksson made the fate and disappeared into the distance while Henry could make no impression on the Robins pairing. Heat 11: Kristensen, Henry, Andersson, Dixon 3-3 [37-29] Claus flies from the gate and no one can get close to him, while at the back Dicko can make no impression against Dalle Andersson despite another hard chasing ride. Heat 12: Carr, Henry, Rossiter, Mogridge 5-1 [42-30] Edinburgh swap the reserves as it's obvious from the pits that Shields is not coming out. In the race the Monarchs make the gate and disappear in front Moggo falls off and remounts before the race is stopped. By now it's starting to look a bit grim for the bonus point. Heat 13: Kristensen, Fry, Eriksson, Andersson 1-5 [43-35] From the gate Eriksson tries his hardest to force Claus wide but Claus winds it on an passes him on the outside down the back straight. At the same time Fryer dives down the gap on the inside of Eriksson and drives into 2nd which is easily maintained for a surprising 5-1 Heat 14: Kristensen, Allen, Henry, J Andersen FX 1-5 [44-40] Claus is thrown in as a TS in place of Hawkins and in a hard first bend Claus and Jan Andersen both go for the same piece of track and Andersen comes off as his attempted outside pass runs out of space. He is instantly excluded and he and he furiously pushes Claus away after the crash. He then realises he is out an jogs up to the refs box and then goes close up and personal to discuss it with the ref which earns him a £25 fine. Really was a classic case of first bend bunching and should have been all 4 back. Anyway the rerun was fairly easy for the Robins as our 2 streak from the gate and take an easy 5-1. Heat 15: Eriksson, Fry, Kristensen, Carr Ret 3-3 [47-43] Carr and Eriksson fly from the gate and set off on an easy 5-1 until the second lap where Carr over runs the corner and his knee gives out as he attempts to correct the bike and pulls off onto the centre green. Overall swindon had one major problem that Jan Andersen and Robert Eriksson both won 4 heats each and were pretty untouchable from the gate on a track that looked very dry and slick due to impending rain being forecast. Only did Claus look comfortable from the gate in his later races. Hopefully this good meeting will act as a springboard so that the rest of the season will finish like he finished last year.Fryer and Ollie also looked good while Ollie put in one of his best away performances. The others blew hot and cold but really were outgated by the Monarchs heatleaders.
