Number One: Alan Mogridge
Signed on loan from Eastbourne, the veteran Alan Mogridge takes over the number one spot this year from the suspended Frank Smart.
He rode for Berwick in 2000, and comes in on an average of 8.74 points a meeting.
Number Two: Martin Dixon
Signed on loan from Workington, "Mad Dog" is entering his testimonial 25th year of racing.
Retained from Swindons highly successful 2000 side, he averaged 6.45 points a meeting.
Number Three: Claus Kristensen
Danishman Kristensen, the only foreigner in the Robins 2001 side, finished last year with a storming 18 point maximum in the final home meeting against Exeter in the Young Sheild final, will be hoping to significantly improve his average. He was an ever present in 2000.
Signed on loan from Berwick, he will start as 3rd heat leader with a 6.77 point a meeting average.
Number Four: Oliver Allen
Youngster Ollie, one of the brightest young prospects in British Speedway, is hoping that 2001 will be his breakout year. Finished 2000 on hot form. Ollie was also an ever present in 2000, and he is entering his third successive year as a Robin.
Signed on loan from Peterborough, he averaged 6.18 points a meeting in 2000.
Number Five: Paul Fry
The Fryer was the find of the year for the Robins in 2000, signed as a second string on 6.44, he put over 2 points on his average and finished the year as makeshift No.1 after Frank Smarts' drugs ban. Took on the added responsibility admirably.
Signed on a full transfer from Newport in the close season, he comes in as second heat leader with a 2000 average of 8.64 points a meeting.
Number Six: Mark Steel
Mark ran Paul Fry close for the find of the season title, signed as a three point reserve after the signing of Nicky Simmons was thwarted on a technicality, proceeded to put 2 points on his average. Crowd pleaser with his bike dancing!!
A Swindon asset, Mark is the first reserve this year and starts with a 5.20 point average.
Number Seven: Ritchie Hawkins
Untried Ritchie has very limited Speedway experience, having only ridden a handful of matches for Sheffield in the conference league in 2000, how he fares in PL racing remains to be seen.
Also a Swindon asset, Ritchie will begin his debut season on an assessed 3 point average.
Alun Rossiter
Signed at the end of June/beginning of July old Robins favourite Rosco comes into the side to replace Mark Steel. Alun has ridden for the Robins in 4 previous spells, first in 1985, 1987, 1993 and in our elite league years of 1997 and 1998. He captained the Robins in 1993.
A Poole Asset he comes into the Robins side after being dropped by Elite League Wolverhampton on a 4.28 assesed average, doubled from his EL 2.14 average!
