Overcoming the Hate
Composed by Tevea
Tevea was a name given to a child that had no family. Born until Dark Elf heritage and from unwanting parents, she was soon passed along from family to family all through northern Neriak. She never spoke and didn't like listening. She resented everyone for treating her like they had.
The only reason she was kept alive was because she claimed to worship Innoruk - God of Hate. Otherwise no one could stand dealing with her because of her "ignorance" and always grew tire of punishing her. She refused to learn peoples majiks and dark ways. She simplied walked to the arena and took out all her anger and hate on someone inside. Sometimes the masters would tell her how to fight "properly"... and sometimes she would listen.
She spent months fighting in the Arena and continued being passed from house to house. Finally the last family decided that she was not worth her life. As they were preparing her sacrifice to Innoruk, she fled. She decided it was time to leave that place of hate forever and soon found herself at the town of Freeport. She wandered around hopeless for days... drinking collected rain drops and eating snake eggs... never speaking to anyone and thinking of her hate for her own kind.
One day, it occured to her. She realized she had the totally wrong mentality. She hated her own kind and she hated her God but she thought how her feeling about that was what was giving that "god" power. It doesn't matter that it is him and his blinded followers that she does hate; hate IS hate. She tried to lighten up... and was given the oppurtunity when she stumbled accross a dark elf vendor in the Freeport Sewers. The man complimented her on her beauty and the first words that spoke from this young woman's lips were "Thank You" -- and by that, she felt like she had already defeated Innoruk.
Toxdil asked about her and she started talking to him as a man stepped out from the shadows. After he listened, he bought a few goods from Toxdil and approached Tevea. He told her of his guild and how he believed she would fit in. She explained her total ignorance of the world as no one has bothered to tell her. He told her how any of the Outcasts, including himself, would help her out with anything.
As which leads to now. Raynard was the first one to speak to her from the guild and he's been spending time teaching her all about Norrath that he knows (which she appreciates). Now she only wishes she could somehow remove the "brand" of Innoruk from her soul completely.
Maybe someday...
