entry:

It was 12/12/2007. Dan walked into my room right as I had just beaten MARVEL vs. CAPCOM 2. The credits rolled. We unlocked a couple characters. We played around. Then it was time to go. I grabbed my amp on the way out that I bought at the gas station the previous night with Dana. We jumped into Dan's piece of shit red convertible and drove down to Ft. Lauderdale. The ride down was really fun.We talked about personal things of our current state in life and I progressively got angrier and thought about these things through the rest of the night when I would forget to enjoy myself, but luckily it was good enough night to keep from thinking of these things. I had my iPod plugged in and we did this thing where he would name some kind of mood or relevance for me to pick each song and so......happy song = "Suddenly I See" by KT Tunstall, song we both know the words to = "Laid to Rest" by lamb of god, song that reminds me of COUNTER COPS = "Flow Motion" by Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, song for driving a car at night = "Digital Bath" by deftones, & epic as fuck song = "Through the Fire and the Flames" by Dragonforce. We drove past the exit and I had to call up Brian Hession and have him tell us what we did wrong. He decided at the last minute that he would drive down there I don't know if he ever made it. So, we made it down there. The first band on was thE.eNd. They really kinda suck. The singer brought out his own drum during the last song and everyone on stage looked like they were performing some kind of a ritual. It was funny. Oh, yah, so I let Taylor Wertz borrow my chimaira shirt for a long time and when he finally gave it back to me it was sleeveless. Surprisingly, it looked really good on me. I wonder if I looked tough. Lol. So, TERROR was fucking scary as usual. All the hardcore kids just appeared during them and then disappeared when they were done. Something about that two-step beat that reoccurs in every hardcore song....you just can't escape the fact that every time it comes you just automatically move. It's like you have to dance to it. I was too scared to go in the pit though. When hardcore bands like that play I always wanna dance but I'm always afraid that someone's gonna hit me cause I have long hair. The singer was talkin about how great South Florida is and he was like "I see VADER shirts, next to MADBALL shirts, next to KATAKLYSM shirts, next to hatebreed shirts, next to POISON THE WELL shirts, next to SUFFOCATION shirts. This is a beautiful thing." I love the unity. It's awesome. One of the kids jumped on stage and the singer prevented the security guard from hurting him. I thought that was cool. We got up closer after they were done. The pit went nuts again for KATAKLYSM. The singe was like "Somethin about Florida. Every single time you never cease to amaze me." Dude it was nuts though. I love death metal, but what I really love about KATAKLYSM is that when they play live, it's not too chaotic to move to. It's actually like danceable. So the whole time there was pushing, swinging, dancing, and head banging. I only went in when they played "As I Slither." As  soon as it started people were pushing and then right as the intro transfered to the first verse everyone had stopped and it was just me in the middle and I started two-stepping and when it got to the next part everyone got out and harcore danced with me. It was so awsome. And during that one part towards the end I was doing the windmill headbang shit and this guy in the plad shirt that's been by me the whole time was like behind me cauldering me. It was so fucking awesome. chimaira was intense as fuck. They're set list was as follows:

1. Nothing Remains

2. Worthless

3. The Flame

4. Cleansation

5. Needle

6. No Reason to Live

7. Implements of Destruction

8. Six

9. Resurrection

10. Severed

11. The Dehumanization Process

12. Power Trip

13. Pure Hatred

Is that a good setlist for a chimaira fan or what? I knew the words to every song. It was so fun. They played the most songs from the best albums, Impossibility and Resurrection. "Nothing Remains was their opening track and that was the only song they played from the self-entitled CD. I was so happy they played "The Flame," that's my favorite track off the new CD. I was so shocked that they actually played "Implements of Destruction," the instrumental track. It's so fucking long and everybody was still moshing even though it was instrumental. They played "Six" which is arguably long also. Mark Hunter dissed ROADRUNNER RECORDS before playing Resurrection. They dragged out the breakdown at the end of "Severed" for so long. Actually that was the only song they played from the first CD, Pass Out of Existence. It sucks that they don't split the crowd anymore cause some kid got injured a while ago, and now every other band gets credit for it. The best two songs they played were saved for last "Power Trip," and "Pure Hatred." You know like always everybody was sing the chorus on the last song "I HATE EVERYONE," which is on the back of my now sleeveless chimaira shirt. Dude. I've never got to see them play my favorite song by them, "Down Again." They never fucking play it. I'm so satisfied with this show it's not even funny.
