GROUND ZERO: STUFF TO KNOW

First Things First

Emma is one large project that is divided into several separate tutorial sections. Each
section is a tutorial in itself. Start from the beginning or hunt for tricks if you wish.

Important Note:

Emma was created in Adobe Illustrator 9.0. I have included the original ai
file if you find it useful to have all of the elements. Feel free to disect Emma
and see what she is made of. I have downsaved to earlier versions also
but havent tested to see if they translate correcty.

One last thing: (We're almost ready)

The mouse is harder to draw with than a pencil or pen. (For me anyways.) Sometimes I find it helpful to draw the art first and then scan it in. Then you can import the drawing and use it as your reference to trace over. Lock the layer, then create a layer above it to use as your "tracing paper". You can fill this layer with white and then lower the transparency (version 9 only) or have it completely transparent. I prefer to have a semi-transparent sheet as it is easier to distinguish my digital art from the original scan.
You might be wondering why I'm telling you this. It just so happens that I have provided a rasterized copy
that you can use as a reference if you so desire. I do recommend it. So go on now, what are you waiting for?
