Every Good Boy Deserves Fudge was Mudhoney's last Sub Pop album before they sing to Reprise Records and for some time it was Sub Pop's best selling album ever. It was recorded during the Spring of 1991 at Egg Studios in Seattle.

The version of "Thorn" on this album is different than the one released as the b-side of the "You're Gone" single. "Check-Out Time" is a different version than the one that appears on the Let It Slide EP.

The art of the album was done by Ed Fotheringham.
