AN UNANSWERED PRAYER

A simple prayer each night
Asking for simple things
Such as a sunny day
And the fun that day brings

A simple prayer each night
Asking for simple things
Good luck tomorrow
Diamonds and rings

Simple prayers granted
And simple people smile
For their material possesions
That fill them for a while

And the prayer for life
And begging for health
Only wanting to live
Not asking for wealth

What happened to that prayer?
Where is that answer we seek?
Is there no hope anymore
For the sick and the weak?

The prayer of needing
Instead of wanting
Leaves no answer
But thoughts are haunting

So the greedy get their diamonds and pearls
And the sick one lies in his coffin over there
While the materialistic ones get their simple wishes
The sick man dies with an unanswered prayer
