WHATS THE CHEESE

So what now? a bic pen asks a generation of x's
The best of them go on to a life of routine
The worst in a drug induced haze
Each on e searches for the next biggest thrill
While our flower-powered parents cashed in
They traded in their minds for power suits and cocaine
And they look to us to take of care of them
So build up to the sky
Ruining our mother earth looking for more
Facing an ever-present war
Against mankind
So now what?
As i listen to songs of childhood
With my naked body curled up somewhere
Thinking it's love
Realizing to late it's not wishing it was
Hearing stories of life
But continuing to feel passion run through me
Another day another dollar
Faceless faces roaming a hall
Thinging oh god this is my future
Why hide behind masks
While breathing pure air brings freedom
But what is pure anymore
how can pure be determined
it has to hurt a little bit
so when will we know
a generation of thinkers and philosophers
passing in front of blind eyes
a generation lost
morals lost
free love for everyone
an anthem of sex, drugs, and rock-n-roll
see where it has gotten us
a country led by a crumbling family
how can a country be stable when a family can't
what down this say to our brothers and fathers
but wait
what does this say to our sisters and mothers
the deeper you get the sweeter the pain
a country where sex is taboo
yet seems to be okay immorally
there is no "girl/guy next door"
nothing is pure
nothing is free
we are all just animals
in a huge rat race for a piece of cheese
what's our cheese
we knock down one another
never stopping to help
what good is the cheese if we can't reach it
is it death
even if it is what good is it
does it ease the pain of being alone
with so much to believe in, which one is right?
where are the thinkers and philosophers?
the answers?
how do I say all that I feel?
each generation never understanding the next
and we wonder why there is no peace
the hippies all knew it they understood
but they were the ones that probably brought us aids
so where's the peace in that
i'm waiting for that final moment
where i realize i'm standing naked in my classroom reading a report
a bell rings and i wake-up
lying next to love
feeling passion that burns deep inside
feeling him
feeling alive
breathing deep
knowing life is a one time shot
knowing that this is life
realizing the truth of society
exhaling the perfect kiss
living life for today
not caring what others think
being my own thinker
loving the philosopher
saying "screw the cheese"
where's my dream!!"
