Metal Gear Solid Movie?!
MGS Movie?! I know you all are excited, and no this is no joke. Yes, there is going to be a Metal gear Solid movie! (Wow, I had Journalism class and look at what a sucky reporter I am.. -__-*) Well, it's not exactly definate, but it is a more-than-likely probability. This movie will not be directed by the man who created Metal Gear Solid, Hideo Kojima, but the infamous (a negative word which I'm using with a positive meaning-lol) Ryuhei Kitamura (Kitamaru as some people say..I really don't care, but you get the point, right?)! Now I am certain that many of you have seen some movies directed by Kitamura, such as "Versus" (I never seen it, so whatever) and "Azumi the Movie" (I've seen that one..I'm just not too sure if he directed it though). Anyway, Kitamura directed some cut-scenes from "Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes," (and I do not know who well he did since I only played the original MGS for the PSX) so he basically has some experience with the MGS franchise (therefore you don't have to worry about him screwing it up). When asked by Variety magazine about the possibility of a movie, Kojima replied "Things one can express in a game are different of those in a movie. It would have to be a very different script, almost a different story." Although this is far from a definate answer, there is a more than likely possibility that Kojima is giving the idea some thought. Although we all know that Metal Gear Solid has the drama and punch of a Hollywood movie, the possibility of it becoming a decent film is much easier said than done. From what I've seen, films based on games tend to be...mediocre... I mean think about it. What do you think about the Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat, Super Mario (whoa that one really sucked), and Tomb Raider movies? I will leave the thinking to you...
Oh ya', I would also like to clear up the misinterpretations I have read on the forums on many other sites. Dudes, Kojima is thinking of making a "Metal Gear Solid" movie, not "Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty" movie. Geez, if he was going to be making that crap into a movie, I don't really think anyone is going to watch it! ^__^* Thank you.
