| Dear Journal, For practicly no reason at all I have decided to start a journal. =)- Ok, well, first things first, I am having a crappy day. *Whew* That done, I am going to endevor not to be depressed. I would like to rant about the stupidity of the media. Here it goes: Seventeen magazine is a blight on humankind. It encourages boys to see women as sexual objects, and girls to see themselves as fat, and ugly. For ex: Mandy Moore *shudders* Says that love is when you are comfortable enough to be around a guy without make-up. That statement clearly implies that a girl should keep her face covered with cosemetics unless she is in a very special occasion (such as being in love). Futher more, this statement from the teenage "role model" implies that even she (who is reguarded as a great beauty) should not be seen without makeup. What about the average girl? Are girls, themselves, and thier faces too grotesque to be shown without a heavily applied layer of paint? No! Girls should look naturally as they do, and learn to feel comfortable and happy with however that face looks. A guy friend of mine once said "When will girls understand that they are beautiful, both inside and out?" Beauty is not a cosmetic application, but an innertrait gained throug a positive, amiable nature. The best way to be beautiful is to first believe that one as a person is beautiful (or handsome) and then (not better, just wonderful) . After belief in oneself is accomplished, simply . . . well . . . I would suggest to Christains to be meek, merciful, pure of heart, and peacemakers. I guess that goes for everyone else too. I am not saying "be wimpy", I am saying that strength is often quiet. Loud strength? No. It may not be the answer to life, but that is today's rant. =) |
