The News
For those you who aren't members of the GBHS Forensics Team or don't attend GBHS, this page will probably just be really boring. Unless of course, you're one of those teams that has heard of us and wants to know where we are and where we're going to be for the rest of this year.
Here's the heads up. The first half of the season is over, and things are just heating up. GBHS is dominating league left and right, and the invitational tourneys are feeling us, too. The rest of the season schedule is on the schedule page FYI.
For the team members who haven't dropped by Mrs. P's room recently, the next tournament, specifically, is the Martin Luther King, Jr. Invitational Tournament and Logan HS in Union City. That's just outside of the East Bay. If you aren't sure if you're on the list of those who can attend, e-mail Mrs. P at either rprichard@rjuhsd.k12.ca.us or at rprichard@hotmail.com. She will tell you what the deal is. As for timing, the tournament is the second weekend in January, the 13-14. If you debate, you will also miss Friday the 12th. The big deal is that this is the weekend before finals. If you can still make it, great. If you can't do it, we understand, but you'd better study then. The cost varies by how much you do, but there is formula to calculate the cost.
It's $50 for the room no matter what. Then it's $25 to debate and $13 for each individual event. Here's where it gets tricky. If you don't want to debate, but you have more than one IE you like, you can be a double entry, enter in 2 IE's, which costs an additional $26. If you want to do two events and debate, you're a triple entrant. That costs an extra $50. Only 4 people (2 varsity and 2 novice) can triple enter, and right now, those people are Zanab Hussain, Mike Hogg, Kevin Kiley, and William Kolkey. If any of you aren't going to Logan, e-mail Mrs. P right away so she can open up another triple entry spot. For those who aren't triple entrants and want to debate, you can enter in 1 IE and debate.
I broke down the costs into this neat little list of entries from Mrs. P:

If you're on there and you don't want to be, e-mail Mrs. P. If you're not on there and you want to be, e-mail Mrs. P. If you're on there and you want to be, good for you, write a check, and then e-mail Mrs. P.
In my next update, I'll bring you the Logan results and the all the information on the A/B mix at Highlands, like what an A/B mix is. I'll also have the all the available info on the Berkeley and Stanford Invitationals in February.
