If I can’t have a Ring Pop, I’m going to die.
“Mommy! But I NEED it!” I saw them in a commercial once and the boy gave a red one to a girl in school and she was really happy. He had two though, so he could keep the green one for himself. I don’t need two though ‘cause only girls with cooties go to my school. Maybe I would give Jessica one but she told Amy I still suck on my thumb and Amy made fun of me for it. I don’t suck on my thumb though ‘cause it usually tastes like dirt of number two. Except when Mommy makes me wash my hands, then they taste like fruit or flowers. So since I have noone to give a Ring Pop to, I only need one for myself, which Mommy should like ‘cause I’m saving her a lot of money.
“It’s all I want and I swear I’ll never ask for anything else ever again, please!” I bargained with her. It usually works because who would turn down a deal like that? Of course, Mommy always forgets that we made the deal and I can usually use it the next day again.
It was time to make my move. I wanted a green Ring Pop, but since I needed to hurry and couldn’t find one right away, I threw a purple one on the moving counter that’s like what the Jetson’s ride on so they don’t have to walk very much. I saw one in the airport once but Daddy wouldn’t let me ride on it. All of the older people got to play on it but Daddy wouldn’t let me because he said I would be stepped on. He said they were all trying to walk to their airplane fast but I don’t know why they were walking since the ground was already moving for them.
I looked at Mommy to see if she was going to put the Ring Pop back. She shook her head, her sign of defeat. I won again. I watched eagerly as the lady with the red vest pushed everything Mommy was buying across the beepy table. A feeling of dread went through me as she threw my Ring Pop in the shopping bag. “Mommy can I have it right now?” I asked.
She said the words that I feared were coming up. “After dinner.”
I knew I shouldn’t have let the Ring Pop leave my hands. I regretted throwing it at the lady in the vest. I should have known she would take Mommy’s side.
I pouted as Mommy gave the lady money and we walked to the doors that open on their own. She always gets mad at me when I play around them because one time I was standing in front of it trying to make it open but couldn’t because I wasn’t heavy enough. Then someone opened it from the other side and it hit me and made me fall down. As we walked by I saw the cool twenty-five cent prize machines.
If I can’t have a plastic crayon keychain, I’m going to die.
