Resonator Elimination and No End Cap

KTM makes an S-pipe that replaces that resonator before the muffler. It is a PERFECT replacement fit, reusing the graphite gaskets, springs, and clip-nut. It weighs a bit less, and should keep the gas speeds up. I bought this pipe from KTM enthusiast Phil Mille in CT, who coincidentally has sold me a bunch of stuff back when I used to race a Hawk GT. I guess we have similar tastes in bikes. The S-pipe can be had for around $115 from KTM.

I ordered, or should I say backordered an SXC exhaust from KTM too. KTM has a reputation that is known beyond KTM owners for making a "competition" can that is the perfect balance between noise and power. I haven't heard their can, but I'm looking forward to getting it. I was quoted a price of $210 from Cliff's Cycle in MA (508-528-2936), a great bunch of guys. In the meantime, I removed all the discs and endcap from inside the stock Supercrapp and with the help of a few strong friends, I hoisted it back in place and hooked it up. It runs about the same as the Big Gun, maybe a little softer in the throttle. Not much louder. The airbox is the loudest part of this bike. No backfiring, though. The Big Gun popped and banged a lot. The stainless pipes are heavier, but don't they look great? The clearance is amazing, and the graphite gaskets and c-clamps do not leak at all.
