Komagata Yumi was the highest ranking prostitue in Shiyoshinra. Her rank was so high that even high-ranking officals could not even go near her. Later on there was a case that would change Yumi's and all prostitues livws forever. This case was called the Mary Ruth case, a quote says "You have to laugh, slaves are human beings, but prostitues are no better than horses or cows. We've fallen into this world of suffering and were doing our best to live our lives. But the Meiji government says were not woman. We're bitches." After that the class of Yumi didn't even matter prostitues were worthless. The arrogant and insultful coment angered Yumi greatly and so she hated the Meiji government for everything. With no where to go and nothing to do, Yumi wasl left alone. Shishio eventually met up with her and she joined him and his fight with against the Meiji government. With time she became Shishio Makoto's lover.
Yumi is not a fighter so I have little to say about her. She is a woman that is being decieved by her soul and her past. Her past is why she is with Shishio but because of it she is part of the JupponGatana. Her feelings for Shishio Makoto will be the end of her life...
