VS.
The fights begins by Usui saying that the rumors of Saitoh's soft side was true, and Saitoh replies to the comment by saying that his ShinGan isn't working today because if Kenshin was here he would interfere with him killing Usui. Saitoh does a Gatotsu Ishiki and Usui blocks it using the iron ball on the bottom of his rochin. Usui then does a Myoken-pugyoku-hyakka-ryouran that gives Saitoh three scrathces. Saitoh says that Usui's ShinGan is not magic or esp its just something else. Usui says his world famous Gatotsu sucks then explains how he can read Saitoh's moves and the history of his ShinGan. Usui says that when he fought Shishio Makoto during the bakamatsu he was blinded and left for death until he heard the sound of water from a distance thats when he knew he had extra ordinary hearing. Usui brags about how he killed 50 police officers and how Saitoh is pissed off about that. Saitoh says he has no sense of revenge and that he follows his motto of "Auku, Suku, Zan" and that justice keeps that in check. Saitoh then snaps his fingers exploding the iron ball. Saitoh then tells of his own ShinGan which is his instincts that he has by observing someone. Saitoh says that during the story Usui said that when he was blinded by Shishio he said it with a smile so he has no true intentions of assasinating Shishio. In other words he joined the JupponGatana to cover his true intentions and to not to look foolish cause he knows he will lose to Shishio in another fight making his life worthless. Usui and Saitoh have a little laugh session together and Usui gets pissed saying he knows nothing.  So Saitoh does another Gatotsu Ishiki and Usui blocks it with his Tinbei(Turtle Sheild) and then stabs Saitoh in the right leg using his Rochin. Saitoh goes into his Gatotsu stance and Usui says that the ShinshenGumi don't know when to quit and that they will follow that one move until they die. They dash at each other again and Saitoh's Gatotsu is deflected and again he is stab in the other leg by Usui's Rochin. Usui says that he is pretty good and that Saitoh's ShinGan is acurate and that even Shishio hasn't figured it out yet but Saitoh tells Usui that Shishio already knows and is just stringing him along. Usui is really pissed and freaked out about this and puts his Tinbei sheild in front of Saitoh's face and says that you can't do a Gatotsu that close. Usui is thinking that when Saitoh moves he will stab him right in his sart ass mouth but Saitoh does his Gatotsu Zeroshiki and penetrates right threw his sheild. It breaks his Rochin splits his Tinbei shield and pinns Usui on the upper wall. Usui says what the hell kinda move is that if that was a Gatotsu. Saitoh tells him that its his sucession technique that he will use against Kenshin one day and he tells Usui that there are several forms of Gatotsu: Ishiki, Nishiki, Sanshiki and Zeroshiki. Usui then critisizes Saitoh and asks him how long can he follow his "Auku, Suku, Zan" in the new Meiji era. Saitoh replies "Till I die, of course."
Analyzing the Fight
This was a fight that had a predetermined victor from the very start. Of course Saitoh was the hero so he had to win but, his skill was much greater than Usui's anyday. Being able to destroy the iron ball right away proves that he was more skilled than Usui but to be able to control when the ball exploded was even more reason to know that Usui was outclassed. To top it off Saitoh's own ShinGan was accurate and to the point proving Usui to be usless. Usui's technique was quite simple block and attack but what made it better was that the sheild covers the line of vision of the opponent making Usui unpredictable from where he would strike too bad he didn't know Saitoh's Zeroshiki attack.
Usui had three problems with this fight:
1st reason: Usui underestimates Saitoh. To think that Saitoh would be easily defeated was his first mistake.
2nd reason: Usui assumes too much. Usui thinks that Saitoh only has his same Gatotsu attack and thus thinks it's ok to have a low guard up since he can defeat it. This mistake costs him a lot.
3rd reason: Usui is to over confident. Assuming this is going to be an easy victory his guard is low and overall Usui is just outmatched making Saitoh the victor.
People who are over confident and assume too much always lose its common sense.
