A time after the defeat of Galaxia, the Sailor Senshi have returned to their normal lives. Their days of fighting were over; they had only to work toward building the future they were fated to achieve. Usagi and Mamoru were happily married. All seemed right once again in the world.
The peace was not to last. One day, the cycle began again, seemingly as it always had before; a monster attack on some unsuspecting victim. The senshi once again went to battle with a new evil, knowing in the end that they would win, as they alwas had, and always would.
But things suddenly took a turn for the worst. The monsters suddenly became more powerful, and more numerous. Sailor Moon and her allies were hard pressed to defeat so many enemies, and were slowly becoming exhausted. One day, in the middle of yet another fight, Sailor Moon suddenly collapsed, and did not get up. With her out of the battle, the senshi were faced with a horrible choice; stand, and let Sailor Moon and themselves be destroyed, or retreat, and let the monster take a life.
Knowing that nothing could save the victim if they fought or not, they made one of the most agonizing decisions of their careers; they ran. They had been overpowered, and they had failed a mission. Sailor Moon did not gain conciousness that day. Or the next. Or that week. She had slipped into a deathlike state that no one was able to get her out of. Meanwhile, monsters began to run amok in the city of Tokyo, and the senshi were unable to stop many of them. Dozens of innocent people died. It was a horrible hour for the heroes. What was the source of these monsters? What was the purpose of taking all these lives? Where would they get help? |
