"Memories of a future past"
Chapter 1

It was cold, incredibly cold. Trunks enjoyed training up here, it gave him time to clear his head. He gazed around the arctic wasteland that he called his training grounds. He lets out a sigh as he went down to finish his 4000th pushup, the end to his training schedule. A trickle of sweat ran down his face, despite the freezing temperature. He turned over and took several much-needed breaths of air. He watched his exhales turn to mist in the cold air. Even though it was so cold no other animal dared to tread upon it, it was one of the few places Trunks truly felt comfortable. He couldn't understand it, the androids had been destroyed and the cities rebuilt, but still, there was a feeling hanging in the air. He couldn't explain it for a long time, then he realized it. It was the feeling of death. Trunks laughed to himself. This session had taken a lot out of him. He thought back, attempting to decide what part of the session was the hardest. He decided on being submerged under the freezing water. He packed up his stuff, ready to return home. As he prepared to fly, he glanced at his watch.
"What? Darn, I'm late!" he said, powering up. In order to get back to his mother; he needed the extra boost to get him home quickly. No sooner had the aura appeared, then he had taken off in a flash.

He ran. He wasn't sure what had happened, he wasn't even sure who he was, and all that he knew at the moment was this: run. He raced through the wilderness, not stopping to look at anything. He couldn't think, he couldn't stop. He just Ran. Then he stopped. He knew something else; he sensed it moving through the trees, bushes and brooks. Prey.

Trunks raced through the air, glancing at his watch, he saw he was too late to make it on time, but he didn't want to be too late. He had no choice. Trunks flexed his muscles and yelled out. His aura brightened into a golden yellow and his hair stood up as he transformed into a Super Saiya-jin. He raced along faster than he ever hoped to do in his half-saiya-jin form. Trunks glanced at his watch again and smiled. He knew his mother wouldn't have to worry about him for too long. He upped his speed a little more.
He arrived in record time, landing in front of the rebuilt Capsule Corporation. He returned to his normal form, letting his light-blue hair fall to the side of his head. He approached the house and opened the door, waiting to be greeted by his mother. But, for some strange reason, she wasn't waiting for him.

He relaxed. For the first time he could remember, he relaxed. This actually wasn't that impressive, he could only remember the past three hours. He picked up the remainder of the deer, which he had caught an hour ago. He thought back to the hunt, him stalking the deer for twenty minutes, making sure the deer was expecting nothing. Then, he struck. As he ripped the deer limb from limb he felt good. No, he felt great. The carnage delighted his senses; the destruction made his blood boil with pleasure. The death itself brought him close to ecstasy. It made him feel good to think about it as he sunk his teeth into the leg.

Trunks walked slowly through the house, something didn't feel right. He set his stuff down in the hall. He looked from room to room. This was one of the only times he hated living in such a large house. He entered the living quarters, and then immediately calmed down. His mother was busy talking with Mr. Trundle, the mayor of the closest town. He entered the room and was greeted by his mother, and then introduced him to the Major.
"Ah! Trunks!" he exclaimed, reach his hand out to be shaken, "I can't thank you enough for destroying those horrible androids. We are all in your dept. Ghaahhh! MY HAND!!" The mayor yelled out as Trunks heightened strength started to crush his hand.
"Ohh! Please accept my deepest apologies!" Trunks apologized.
"Oh, it's quite all right." Mr. Trundle said, stroking his hand. "What is truly important is what your mother and I were talking about before you entered." He said superficially in a slightly dejected voice, as he turned back towards Bulma. Trunks raised an eyebrow; there was something about Mr. Trundle that was "off" today, but Trunks couldn't put a finger on it, but it was there. "We were just talking about Capsule Corporation's return to the market," The mayor started, but was interrupted by Bulma, "Trunks, could you go into the kitchen and get us some drinks?"
Trunks nodded his agreement and simply replied "Hai." he turned around and headed for the kitchen. As he got some refreshments, he pondered what it was that made Mr. Trundle seem different. It was as if he was upset about something, but it was important he didn't show it. He returned with the drinks, along with a quick dinner for himself, then approached his mother and their guest. He set the drinks down, and went about eating his dinner. He attempted to listen to what Mr. Trundle was saying, but he was getting tired. He put his dirty dishes away and approached his mother. "Please excuse me, I wish to retire, the trip home has left me in need of some rest." Trunks said. His mother looked at him with understanding eyes.
"My, that training session must have taken a lot out of you. Go ahead up to bed." She thought that there might be something on his mind, but he looked tired. She'd ask him about it later.
Trunks walked upstairs and into his living quarters. He was finally starting to feel the affects of the training session, but he knew all he would need was a good nights sleep, and a shower in the morning. As he got ready to sleep, his mind wandered back to Mr. Trundle. Well, there's no time to worry about that now, he thought, as he slowly drifted off to sleep.

He slowly stood up from the ground. He'd slept all night against a tree. He stretched a bit and then turned towards the deer carcass. No, he wanted something fresh for breakfast. He walked towards the sound of running water. He found a small creek, which he followed to its source, a small lake. As he lowered down to the water to hunt for fish, he saw his reflection in the water. He gasped at what he saw. While he didn't remember what he had looked like, what he saw did not look right. It was for him like looking in the mirror to find a different face, but not actually being able to remember what your original face was. As he gazed at the stranger looking up at him, he got a sharp pain in the back of his head. He reached up to grab his head in an attempt to stifle the pain, and he found the last thing he had ever expected. Metal. A piece of his head was metal. This was to much for him to handle, He stood up and ran into the woods. As he ran, it was as if he was trying to remember something against his will. Memories were being forced upon his mind. With the growing number of strange memories, the pain grew and grew until he couldn't stand it anymore. He fell to the ground and slipped into unconsciousness.
