He gained a big fan following on the independent circuit because of his ability, but was unable to find a full-time role in either WWF or WCW. He dreamed of becoming a wrestler for All Japan after watching the legendary matches between Jumbo Tsuruta and Genichiro Tenryu, and in a way got that dream when he began touring with the All Japan breakaway group, NOAH, in 2001, where he and protégé, Donovan Morgan, formed a tag team. Modest also operates the Pro Wrestling IRON school and promotion back home, and maintains a close relationship with Misawa and NOAH. Modest captured the GHC Jr. Heavyweight Title belt in 2003, and held it for several months before finally losing to Takashi Sugiura at the 9/12/03 Budokan show. |
