It also might be useful for some kiwi people
as I heard some chick refer to Hugh Sundae as the 'presenter from When
Bands Attack'
Where's the Hugh luvin??
Shows
Channel Z Breakfast - Nathan Rarere & Jon Bridges
Channel Z are a modern rock station in Auckland,
Christchurch and Wellington that do alot of promotion of NZ music
Jon and Nathan do the breakfast show and
really funny
There is an transcript with Jon and Nathan
and Zed in the interviews section
ICE AS - Petra Bagurst, Hugh Sundae, Jon Bridges
Ice As is a magazine style show I guess.
they have interviews, live bands and heaps of other stuff.
Nathan Rarere (from Channel Z) used to be
on the show, but when he left Hugh joined. Petra hosts shows like
'Hot Property' *megs favourite cos its all about feature walls and indoor/outdoor
flow* and Jon as you know is on Channel Z
Hugh used to (and maybe still does)
work at bfm the Auckland student radio station. Hugh also hosted
a one-off special called 'When Bands Attack' where he interviewed the headlining
bands for the 2001 BDO, such as Limp Bizkit, Rammestien and Placebo.
In the interview with Zed, Nathan told Hugh
that Zed didn't have a problem with the word 'love' and then kissed Ben
and Hugh both on the cheek! *classic TV*
*sniff* Ice As is no longer. TV3 didn't
put it up for NZ on Air funding this year, even after I sent them a nasty
email.
Space - Dominic Bowden & Jacqui Brown
Space is a show on Friday night that wants
to be Ice as but just doesn't quite make it.
Zed have appeared on Space a couple of times
and Dom is the luv of Aimee's life
Before Space, Jacqui used to do stuff at
bfm and Dom used to host a kids tv show where he talked to a computer
animated penguin. Jacqui and Dom also hosted the 2001 Tuis
However, I must admit that Space is growing
on me, and I have started watching it regularly
Havoc & Newsboy
Okay so they've never really had anything
to do with Zed but how could I do a list of NZ celebs and leave out News?
Havoc & Newsboy are both from bfm and
then they did a show on MTV when it used to screen in NZ. After UK
MTV was dropped from our screens their show was moved to TV2 where it went
through a few changes as they did stuff like 'Havoc & Newsboy's Sell-out
Tour' Mikey Havoc used to be in a band called 'Push Push', he owns
a club in Auckland and he hosts the bfm breakfast show.
Newsboy (Jeremy Wells) also hosts
a ski show called 'Shred'.
James Coleman
'Drive' DJ on Channel Z who seems to win
a lot of radio awards; went to the Robbie Williams press conference and
told Robbie 'I don't play your music but I think you're pretty cool anyway'.
Made an impression at the Sky City NZ Music Showcase
'James, can I shoot your target?' - Aims
Soon to appear on TV's 'the panel'
What Now
If you were a hip, happening 11 year old,
you never missed What Now on weekend mornings.
Then it moved to weekday afternoons; and
with features such as Propsboy, digimon(?) and the guy from the Stereobus,
what more could you want?
Bands
Shihad
Shihad are an amazingly wicked band and if
you don't like them, there's something wrong with you.
They are now based in Melbourne and the
Australians have tried to steal them.
Betchadupa
They won the best new act at the 2001 Tuis.
Always complain that interviewers make a big fuss that Liam's dad is Neil
Finn.
Liam doesn't want Betchadupa to be known
as the 'new Zed' - he could only dream.
Chris (the one with the long hair) tried
to sneak Aimee into the Tuis after function.
Heavy Jones Trio
Band from Christchurch who supported Zed
on Silencer tour.
Joe also features on the 'I'm Cold' video.
Fur Patrol
Put out their debut album around the same time as Zed. Had Christmas no 1 with 'Lydia' - absolutly huge song which my mum loves
Breathe
Ugly band from Wellington who's second album
came out around the same time as 'Silencer'. When appearing on Ice
As they said 'We don't want to be in Creme magazine or go on What Now -
its not what we're about' an obvious reference to Zed who had just done
both.
Breathe then appeared on What Now a couple
of months later *pfft*
Truebliss
First version of the 'Popstars' programme.
Erika, Carly, Jo, Megan and the blonde one put out an album and then disappeared
after all the money went into making Bardot. Erika now hosts RTR
Countdown, Megan married an All Black, Jo sings at Sky City Casino, Carly
does dodgy photo shoots for men's magazines (and dodgy photos with Ben)
and I dunno about the other one
Other Stuff
Creme Magazine
Bopper magazine that did terrible things
to Zed's hair for this photo shoot.
We always buy it to get pictures of Zed.
Juice TV
Music Channel that you only get if you have
Sky TV. Sorry I couldn't find any pictures of the presenters.
Glassons
Bopper chicks clothing store that sells cheap
versions of clothes styles of the momment.
Also where Tom (blink 182) was window
shopping when he tried to hide from us.
ZM
Bopper station that we are forced to listen
to when they do Zed competitions like the Coke Private Concert, and the
trip to the Viper Room *you can't fit Nick Harrison in a chillybin, I'm
telling you! its not possible*
Breakfast show used to be hosted by Marcus
Lush (another person who used to do the bfm breakfast show), however he
offended too many people and was replaced by 3 leftover TV presenters.
Zm also features 'Jase' the drive DJ, close
and personal friend of Pops *fudge fudge twink twink*
More Fm
Radio station that plays the same sort of
music as ZM but wit the occasional 80's flashback.
SFSTSTAF had a link from More FM's website,
but we lost it because of our references to ZM. psh
