COWBOY BEBOP TEMPORARILY OFF THE AIR (Sept 22, 2001) Cartoon Network pulled Cowboy Bebop and Mobile Suit Gundam from their schedules this past week due to the recent tragedies in our country. AOL / Time Warner felt that the violence and depiction of war was inappropriate at this time to air. Cowboy Bebop will be the first to return back and is scheduled again to air this Sunday Sept 23rd, although this could change. No word on when Mobile Suit Gundam will return. Also MSG: The 08th MS Team will return to the weekday Toonami line-up on Monday Oct 1st. It will also return to the Midnight Run replacing Outlaw Star as of Oct 10th. In other scheduling news, Batman Beyond will also premiere on Toonami Oct 1st.
MOBILE SUIT GUNDAM OFF THE AIR (Sept 16, 2001) Cartoon Network is no longer airing Mobile Suit Gundam, for now. The series original run was scheduled to end on Sept 18. Monday's episode did not air, but Tuesday's episode did. For the rest of the week it was replaced by Dragon Ball. It is not known why MGS was taken off, as it had been scheduled to run at least into the rest of September but it may have to due with the terrorist attack on Tuesday or may be the lower ratings it was getting.
INSPECTOR GADGET AND GARFIELD RETURN (Aug 29, 2001) Both of these cartoons will be returning to the airwaves after two years of hiatus on FOX Family Channel's daytime line-up starting Tuesday Sept 4th. NEW HE-MAN TOY LINE IN THE WORKS (July 9, 2001) He-Man.org reports that Mattel is planning to make an all new He-Man toy line in the Spring of 2002, with a preview at the July 19 San Diego Comic Con. The new figures will be sculpted by the legendary "Four Horsemen" team employed by McFarlane Toys. These figures will not be as detailed as the Spawn figures though. Mattel has also launched the new Masters Of The Univere.com with pictures of the previous re-released figures. The Re-releases of the original figures are still expected with another assortment debuting in the fall and another five pack with an exclusive figure yet to be revealed. No word on if an all-new cartoon series will debut or if the original will return yet. Lou Scheimer Productions has been meeting with Mattel though!
DENNIS THE MENACE RETURNS (July 9, 2001) The Dennis the Menace 1980s animated series quietly returned to television after a two year hiatus. Last appearing on the FOX Family Channel in 1999, Cartoon Network began airing the series July 2nd at 7:30am Central/8:30am Eastern time on weekday mornings. The series is distributed by the Program Exchange which also distributes Sailor Moon episodes #1-82. Hopefully Cartoon Network will continue with a good relationship with the Program Exchange since they own other DiC animated cartoons like Heathcliff!
GUNDAM NEWS (July 9, 2001) Toonami will begin airing not one but two Gundam series July 23rd! The original "Mobile Suit Gundam" from 1979 will air weekdays at 4pm Central/ 5pm Eastern and the sequel 1996 series "Mobile Suit Gundam: The 08th MS Team" will air in the Midnight Run at 11pm Central/12am Eastern. Although this is great, I have learned from Gundam fans that by watching 13 episode 08th MS Team series, which takes place after the 43 episode original series, will spoil some surprises for you before the original's run is complete. I would suggest taping the 08th MS Team series and watching it after you see all of Mobile Suit Gundam so it won't ruin it for you! I am told the original is the best of all the many Gundam series. Gundam Wing, the series that premiered last year, takes place in an alternate universe so don't expect any of the previous characters to be in these new series!
MORE CHANGES FOR TOONAMI (May 8, 2001) Toonami will be cut back for an hour and two other shows will also be put on hiatus. Gundam Wing will begin airing two episodes starting Monday May 7th at 3pm and 3:30pm CST. But, Gundam Wing and Big O will be taken off the afternoon block after Friday May 11th. Big O will continue to air in the Midnight Run until Thursday May 24th. A new two hour Toonami block will start on Monday May 14th. Dexter's Lab and that Ed show will take over the 3pm-4pm slot. Superman will move to 4pm, Tenchi will be on at 4:30pm and an hour of DBZ will run from 5pm-6pm. No word on what show will be replacing Big O, but I guarantee it will be another episode of DBZ.
THUNDERCATS AND SAILOR MOON CANCELLED, TOONAMI CUT BACK (Apr 29, 2001) Bad news for CN fans. ThunderCats last airing on the network will be this Friday, May 4th. It will be replaced by, you guessed it, more of those Cartoon Cartoon shows. Sailor Moon will also be cancelled on May 3rd but it is expected to return later. Also Toonami is planning to cut back an hour. All this is trouble is being caused by Jamie Kellner, the new CEO of Turner Programming. Please take the time to write a letter to Cartoon Network and let them know we at least want ThunderCats back! CARTOON NETWORK C/O PROGRAMMING DEPARTMENT, 1050 TECHWOOD DRIVE NW, ATLANTA, GA 30318

ESCAFLOWNE GONE FROM FOX KIDS (Oct 29, 2000) Well, we all knew it wasn't going to last, didn't we? The odds were against Vision of Escaflowne on Fox Kids ever since it was announced that it was on the fall lineup. People that were familiar with the original version were worried that Fox Kids would get rid of the original music, cut out a lot of unnecessary things, and basically present a bastardized version of the series. Ever since Sean Akins made a statement that this was one of the shows he wanted on Toonami, Fox Kids snagged it up quicker than you can say "five," as in five years. And now, with the show no longer on the Fox lineup, you'd expect Toonami to pick it up, right? Sorry, no. The network was the rights to Escaflowne for five years, even though it'll be sitting on the shelves gathering dust. Pity. And the fates doesn't look that good as well, as Fox Kids is rumored to be getting another classic anime that Toonami doesn't have, which could begin this spring. Some flat-chested, red-headed cutie with sorcerery powers and a dim yet nobel blond-haired sidekick.
BREAKING NEWS: HE-MAN NOT ON CN BUT BACK ON TOY SHELVES! (Oct 17, 2000) Cartoon Network denies the rumors that they were in negociations with Hallmark to get He-Man or other cartoons right now because they are too expensive. But the good news is that original He-Man figures will be avaibale again in toy stores everywhere. He-man.org announced from Toyfare Magazine #40, that Mattel will re-release ten Masters of the Universe figures in their original packages in January 2001. The figures re-released are: He-Man and Skeletor limited to only 15,000. Also, these figures will be released limited to only 10,000: Teela, Man-At-Arms, Beast Man, Evil-Lyn, Faker, Mer-Man, Trap Jaw and Tri-Klops. Also two-packs will be released of He-Man with Battle Cat and Skeletor with Panthor. Additional figures may be released including unproduced ones like He-Ro and Eldor. Thanks Mattel!!!
SILVERHAWKS WILL DO AN ENCORE RUN AS WELL AS SAILOR MOON SUPER S! (Oct 15, 2000) Cartoon Network says SilverHawks is doing better in the ratings and they will probably let the series run a second time after the first run of all 65 episodes are over. Also Sailor Moon Super S will repeat itself after the original run concludes. Source-SailorScout Bears.

TOONAMI NEWS, FROM THE MAN HIMSELF (Oct 15, 2000) Sean Akins, producer of Toonami, did an interview on Fantasticon.com and here's some of the highlights of it: The next new series to debut on Toonami is Outlaw Star and it will be on the air by early 2001. The next Gundam series to be shown is the original 1979 Mobile Suit Gundam, and no deals have been set but look for this show to be ready in 2001. Also Sean answered many fans questions about the classic shows of Speed Racer, Voltron and G-Force. Sean said these shows don't get good enough ratings to continue showing them. He also said that he grew up watching such shows as Transformers, Mighty Orbots, and G.I.Joe himself (he's one of us!) and would love to show them but they might not do well in ratings either. Let's convince him otherwise. Write a letter to Toonami and suggest they try airing Transformers or G.I.Joe. Tell them about the recent success of the Rhino videos and that Transformers the Movie was on Amazon's top selling list. With these series hopefully people would watch them. Also to support this idea, please everyone watch the ThunderCats/SilverHawks hour weekdays at 2pm CST/MST and 3pm EST/PST.
BOOMERANG SNEAK PEEK ALL OCTOBER ON CN (Oct 15, 2000) To get a glimpse of what you are missing on Boomerang, every Saturday in October, you can get a sneak peek of the shows on Boomerang. Running from 3pm-5pm CST/MST and 4pm-6pm EST/PST, you can go back in time with two hours of Boomerang programming. Most of these shows haven't been on Cartoon Network for a while since they were knocked off by the original stuff. Also go to www.boomerang.cartoonnetwork.com and find out how you can get this new channel!
HE-MAN ON CARTOON NETWORK? (October 6, 2000) He-Man.org reports that rumors are going around that Cartoon Network is in negociations with Hallmark about He-Man and other 80s cartoons. The webmaster confirms that there have been talks but no deals have been set. See this space for further details!
DUNGEONS AND DRAGONS OFF FOX! (Oct 6, 2000) Yesterday FOX began airing commericals that DinoZaurs would take over D&D's timeslot of Tues-Fri at 3pm. Write letters to FOX Fam and tell them to add the series to their line-up!
THUNDERCATS RETURN, HO! (Oct 1, 2000) Cartoon Network has a new schedule grid on their site under the TV section. Starting this Monday, ThunderCats returns to the weekday line-up at 2pm CST/MST & 3pm EST/PST. SilverHawks is still after that at 2:30pm CST/MST & 3:30pm EST/PST. That means we got our wish for the Rankin-Bass Animated Hour! Goodbye Captain Planet! (Well he is on early now, but at least SilverHawks has a strong lead-in)
LAFF-A-LYMPICS RETURN (Oct 1, 2000) Also, the Laff-A-Lympics series has been airing on CN mornings at 8:30am CST/9:30am EST for the Syndey 2000 Olympics. Like they did for the Atlanta 1996 games. This show also pops up on Boomerang.
NEW TOONAMI RISING SUN LINE-UP (Oct 1, 2000) Starting Oct 7th Toonami Rising Sun has a new line-up (times CST) 8am-9am ThunderCats, 10:00am Sailor Moon, 10:30am Tenchi Muyo!, 11:15am Superman (1996-2000 series) will start at 11am in later weeks but some Tenchi episodes run over and 11:45am to be announced (probably Powerpuff Girls). Superman will be shown on Saturdays rather than Fridays as previously reported.
UPCOMING TOONAMI SPECIALS AND MOVIES (Oct 1, 2000) The four-part Blue Submarine No. 6 OAV series, will airs Oct 16-20.
