Short brief about Toraja

Accordingly to legend, Toraja people came from Siam. They are migrated to the
south
to find new and better life. The used a ship that likely recent Toraja
traditional house.

The name "Toraja" have a different derives versions. Once said that name
"Toraja" probably derives
from two words,
"to"
that mean
people
and
"raja"
that mean
king
.
So, Toraja mean
"people of king sons and daughters"
. On the other hand, name Toraja
probably derives from the Bugis
"to ri aja"
, that mean
"people of the mountains"
.
This two versions have a strong evidence; so it still have many believers today.
Toraja Culture

Toraja culture have a lot of parts. It's including Toraja house of origin,
"aluk"
-
the way of the ancestors, the spirit of the death, social order, funeral
ceremony, etc.

Every item take a part to make Toraja (also known as Torajaland) very unique
ethnic among hundreds
of Indonesian ones.
