I am working in a HP-Enterprise server/Oracle RDBMS platform for more than three years. And I observe that there are no books dealing with basics of either UNIX System Administration or Oracle Data Base Administration. Either, they touch on very basic concepts or straightaway take you to a very advanced plane. From my experience, I have written down some basic and not-too-basic tasks an UNIX administrator/Oracle administrator (in many companies, both these roles could be donned by same person) is expected to do in everyday situations. I intend putting up these in format of Articles. I intend writing on UNIX, Oracle, Perl and little bit of Java, as I am comfortable with these tools only. There is also a series 'Demystifying' - where I intend writing on general I.T. issues, from layman point of view. Hope you enjoy the articles!!
