After the spectacle on the Golden Horn, everyone returned to Okmeydanı where preparations had been made for
another show. In (97b) the sultan is seated in his pavilion with two of his sons and a group of attendants. Outside, the grand vizier and his steward are watching a group of dancers perform. In (98a) the revolving fortress that we have seen several times before is back again. This time it is manned by members of the Arsenal corps, who evidently have taken it from its makers, and it is being attacked by members of the Artillerymen’s corps, who have been charged by the sultan with the duty of recapturing it. The fate of the fortress is sealed when the land-sailing galley, which apparently has been captured from the Arsenal, trundles up and joins the fray.Return to
