They are followed by the master of the festival-trees and the chief architect, who are leading a group of workman carrying ladders and various tools. According to Vehbi, these men were called upon to demolish any structures that might block the passage of the huge festival-trees, of which we see two in the next frame (161a), each one of them being carried by forty members of the Arsenal corps. Four men dressed in Arsenal costume are blowing whistles or pipes.
