Long ago, I came to the realisation that most holidays are very comercial. I had been discussing this with a friend of mine, and she said to me that she didn't realy celebrate "holidays" that much because she felt that if you are going to give presents or whatever it shoud be because you want to, not because some holiday tells you to. Well, I still like giving gifts on the holidays, but her words stuck in my mind for some time to come.
On the very first day of the year 2000, acting on some sort of impulse, I took out my day planner, closed my eyes, flipped through the pages, and put my finger down, my finger landed on May 26, I took out a pen and labeled it "Random Day". Not sure what to make of it, I thought back to my friend, I decided that Random Day, would be a day to Celebrate, for no reason at all, I could give gifts, or do whatever I wanted to do for Random Day.
When May 26 rolled around, I send out E-Cards to everyone on my email list, anouncing the presence of random day, giving an explanation, and wishing everyone a happy Random Day. on that day, I had another great thought. Random Day should not be the same day every year, that wouldn't be very random now would it, heck, why not have two or three in a year if fortune so smiles. So I set a few guidelines for choosing the next random day and Randomly chose the next one, The tradition has been going ever since then and I always try to find some way to celebrate, and so can you!
So what are these rules for chosing random day?
Rule 1) Random day cannot be less than one month away, nor can it be more Than 11 months away from the date it is chosen (so if you chose on June 14, then May 14 through July 14 cannot be chosen as the next Random day)
Rule 2) Random Day cannot fall on a Previously Established Major holiday
Usualy what I do is chose the month first, take out the unavailable days, then chose the date.
