Damien was the seventh person voted out of the game.
Damien Minor was born in Franklin, Louisiana, where he has lived all of his life. Being the middle child (not the mention the only male child) in a family full of females, Damien always struggled to find common ground among his relatives. As a result, he never really felt that he fit in anywhere he went – whether it was school, vacations, or his own household. Like Henry Jenkins in Okinawa before him, Damien was introverted by preschool.
Not having much in the way of parental guidance in his life (never knowing his father, and his mother rarely providing for him), Damien learned to do many things on his own at a young age. Learning quicker than most, he was placed in the local school’s gifted program at the age of six years old. His intelligence and thirst for learning made him a top student throughout his school years, balancing a tough school schedule, his extra-curricular activities with the JROTC program, and his volunteer work with the Learn & Serve program, educating various communities about the HIV/AIDS virus. Because of his diligence, he has earned enough scholarship money to pay for his entire college undergraduate experience. He is due to graduate from Franklin Senior High with honors on May 14, 2004.
When Survivor first premiered in the summer of 2000, Damien was immediately hooked, and has never missed an episode since, much to the dismay of his family and friends, who believed that he was a Reality TV addict – which he was. In fact, when he was invited to play in the Canary Islands, a poll was quickly made and taken between them – not one person believed he would last a week. Angry and hurt, Damien called a taxi, stormed out of the house and left on a plane that very night, determined to prove them all wrong.
In his spare time, Damien enjoys reading, games (board and electronic), creative writing, sleeping, and playing Dance Dance Revolution. He feels that he can win Survivor: Canary Islands because of his intellect, sincerity, and ability to adapt. If he wins, he plans to save the million dollars to use as capital to start his own computer conglomerate.
