| 1) place the coal up next to the tender bundle, being careful not to disturb it any more than neccessary |
| 2) instead of dumping the coal into the nest, turn the nest upside down over top of the coal |
| 3) in one motion, turn both the nest and the coal right side up with the coal directly in the center of the nest |
| 4) allow the centered coal to breatheon it's own for a moment |
| 5) wrap the sides of the bundle over the coal like a taco. Be careful not to disturb it too much |
| 6) blow life into your new creation, very lightly at first. As the coal spreads, blow more vigorously. |
| 7) we're at the point where the bundle is about to burst into flame. Continue to increase your blowing until that occurs. CAUTION: this is fire you are holding in your hands. Treat it accordingly. Don't hold it over clothing, and, turn your face to the side when you inhale to get the next breath. Finally.....when it does burst into flame, be ready to place it into the prepared fire lay. NOW it's time to beat your chest and rejoice in that very personal primal experience. You have created fire |
