Nelson Cemetery is on Walton Lane, Nelson

The cemetery was laid out in 1894 and there were three mortuary chapels.
The photo is taken looking down from the top end of the cemetery, standing just in front of the Marsden War Memorial.
Most of the large memorials to the wealthy of Nelson are in this area plus the one below remembering 5 members of the Carr Road Wesleyan Chapel who were tragically drowned on a visit to Derwentwater in 1898.
I have further information concerning this incident from newspaper reports which I will add at a later date.

Members of the Wesleyan Church and Sunday School Carr Road Nelson who lost their lives in Lake Derwentwater on August 12th 1898
"They were lovely and pleasant in their lives and in their death they were not divided" Interred together in this grave August 16th 1898
The cost of this monument was defrayed by the members of the Wesleyan Church and Sunday School Nelson assisted by Townspeople and friends.
