The grave of Francis Duckworth is in the churchyard, he was the composer of the hymn tune Rimmington (“Jesus shall reign where’er the sun) which is inscribed on his grave. Francis was born in nearby Rimmington in 1862 and his most famous tune was first heard in Colne in 1904, where he was organist at the Albert Rd Methodist church
