This is the first trick that Tenyo released in the market at the end of October. Over the past few years, Tenyo released their new products much more earlier and this year was a little bit late.
Tenyo has now released around 200 items in the markets since early 60's and they did have a lot of great inventions in the past such as Crystal Pyramid, Crystal Cleaver, The Impossible Pen, Mini Metermorphisis, etc. Not only the effects, but also the creative mechanisms inside the products. You will be astonished on the above products and will be happy to play the tricks yourself because it can even fool yourself!
One of the charateristics for Tenyo's product line every year is that normally they release 4-6 products every year and most likely one of them is the 'highlight' of that year's product. I don't know why but I estimate that the space for the designers in Tenyo group becomes narrower and narrower due to the informative market nowadays and they can't repeat the concept for sure. For example, you may be amazed by seeing the 'Ball and Vase' trick in early 50's but you thinks there is nothing special for this trick in year 2001. That's probably why Tenyo do not have many new creative products nowadays.
However, this year's highlight is Blue Crystal and definitely this is the best trick in 2001's product line. Lubor always gives surprise to the magic market due to his creative mind and this product proves that he is the best inventor in the world - at least I think he is.
Go back to the product. The routine is straight forward. You show a little box which contains a solid crystal inside and ask a spectator to knock the surface of the crystal to prove that it's solid. Then you slide a playing card inside the surface of the crystal and it melts into the crystal block.
After you penetrate the card into the crystal block, you use a coin to repeat the effect again. This time you put the coin on the surfact of the crystal and suddenly the coin sunk into the block again.
I can say that this is one of the best tricks that Tenyo has ever produced. The effect is clean - no complex moves - the concept is clear and easy to understand - solid cannot penetrate through solid but it breaks the concept. You can easily know how to do within 3 minutes when you get the product and you will enjoy to perform this to your friend.
However, when I perform this to my friend, I just perform the second part of the trick (cause a coin to penetrate through the solid) because the playing card is gimmicked, and it is abnormal in presentation due to it's thickness. The most interesting part is, even you know how to do the trick, you don't know how it works! I can't explain in words unless you have this product in hand.
