A Most Hindi words use A as prefix meaning "without" or "no". Thus (1) Dharm and A-Dharm - A-Dharm means which is not Dharm. (2) Vidyaa and A-Vidyaa - A-Vidyaa means which is not Vidyaa (education), it is ignorance; or mistaking the unreal for real. In Vedaant philosophy both A-Vidyaa and Maayaa words refer to the force through which the Universe evolves. It is through this force that the pure, infinite and immortal soul considers itself to be limited. (3) Paramaarth and A-Paramaarth - A-Paramaarth means which is not Paramaarth. Paramaarth is about seeing One in everybody, or seeing everybody like himself. (4) Viyogaa and A-Viyogaa - A-Viyogaa means where there is no separation (Viyog means separation). (5) Dwait and A-Dwait - A-Dwait means which is not Two, but One. There are two schools - one of A-Dwait and another is of Dwait. Who believe in A-Dwait, they believe in One, that the Aatmaa (soul) and Paramaatmaa (God) are One, they are not two; while who believe in Dwait, they believe in Two - Paramaatmaa and Aatmaa (soul). They see them differently. (6) Par and A-Par. (7) Paraa and A-Paraa - A-Paraa Vidyaa is the lower knowledge, the knowledge of the lower reality or the manifested world; while Paraa Vidyaa or Brahm Vidyaa is the knowledge of Brahm that helps the seeker to realize Brahm and gain liberation.
