WHAT IS CHRISTMAS?
Christmas is Music.....the music of carols ringing out on the still night air, the organ, the chimes, and the voices of a Choir singing "Silent Night".
Christmas is Lights.....the candles in our windows, the lighted trees, the eyes of children, and the starlight on a cold December night.
Christmas is Welcome.....the wreath on our door, the happiness to answer the doorbell, the warmth of hearts overflowing, "Come in, come in, and Merry Christmas."
Christmas is Laughter.....the laughter that starts in our toes and bubbles up, the smiles on faces everywhere, the feeling of closeness, of a wonderful secret shared with all mankind.
Christmas is Fragrance.....the pine and spruce smell of Christmas trees, the sugary, good smell of cookies baking, the spice and raisin smell of fruitcake, the smell of furniture polish, and the cold, crisp smell of outdoors.
Christmas is Giving.....the present made by hand, the card picked especially for a certain person, the gift marked from me to you with love.
Christmas is remembering.....other Christmases, friends that may be far away, loved ones far and near, those less fortunate, those in need. To read again the words "For God so loved, "Unto us a son is born."
Christmas is Love.....the love that wells up in our hearts and brings tears to our eyes as we thank God for His great love, His unpeakable gift.
THE CHRISTMAS SPIRIT
I am the Christmas Spirit.
I enter the home of poverty, causing pale-faced children to open their eyes wide in pleased wonder.
I cause the miser's clutched hand to relax, and thus paint a bright spot on his soul.
I cause the aged to renew their youth and to laugh in the glad old way.
I keep romance alive in the heart of childhood, and brighten sleep with dreams woven of magic.
I cause eager feet to climb dark stairways with filled baskets, leaving behind hearts amazed at the goodness of the world.
I cause the prodigal to pause a moment on his wild, wasteful way, and send to anxious love some little token that releases glad tears-----tears which wash away the hard lines of sorrow.
I enter dark prison cells, reminding scarred manhood of what might have been, and pointing forward to good days yet to come.
I come softly into the still, white home of pain, and lips that are too weak to speak just tremble in silent, eloquent gratitude.
In a thousand ways I cause the weary world to look up into the face of God and for a little moment forget the things that are small and wretched.
I am the Christmas Spirit.

OPEN THE DOOR TO CHRISTMAS
When sleigh bells tinkle in the lane,
And warm-clad carolers make their rounds,
Open your door to Christmas
Welcome its happy sounds.
When Yule logs blaze upon the hearth,
And kitchens scent the air with spice,
And holly hangs on your festive door,
Christmas smells so nice.
Outside your door is a Christmas wreath,
And colored lights twinkle on every tree
People are smiling and pleasant
Christmas is lovely to see.
Open your door to this Christmas
To its color, its goodness, its tone
Take Christmas into your home and heart
And make it your very own.
OH HOLY NIGHT!
Snow is falling,oh,so softly
Blanketing the world in white
Covering the earth with beauty
On this Holy, Holy night

Bustling shoppers fill the stores
Not mindful of the snowdrifts
They wander up and down the aisles
Searching for that special gift

Children visiting with Santa
Mommy's cart stacked high
Filled with dolls and books and toys
And something for that special guy
Do you hear the carolers
Just outside the door
Melodious Christmas carols sound
Hear those voices soar
Hear the bells so softly ring
It's Christmas time again
Time for love and time for cheer
Gladness for this time of year
Sparkling lights shine on the tree
An angel glows above
Pretty ornaments are hung
Christmas is a time for love

CHRISTMAS MORN
Do you hear them sneaking down?
Trying not to make a sound
They want to see what Santa brought
Hurry fast and don't get caught!

See the presents 'neath the tree
Some for you and some for me
Gaily wrapped in red and green
Paper with pretty Christmas scenes

And the socks all filled with toys
One for each little girl and boy
With oranges and candy canes
And color books for when it rains
Hidden there, off to the side
Is a bright, shiny bike for you to ride
And there is a dollhouse just for me
Where my dolly can live so happily
Oh, Christmas is such a wonderful day
But it goes by so fast as we smile it away
And the tired, happy children will go to bed
With the sweet dreams from Christmas in their heads
For today is the day when your dreams do come true
I got just what I wanted and I'm sure you did too
We'll cherish the memory of this Christmas day
Long after we grow up and move away

CHRISTMAS IS THE SAME
It does not matter if the day is white
Or if the sunlight permeates the air
Or clouds hang low with rain; the delight
Of Christmas is the same most everywhere.
Wherever men are kind and children run
Like candles flickering upon a tree
Their faces lifted toward the flakes or sun
Their eyes filled with a child's sweet purity.
Wherever home is safe and love is true
And the faith of centuries is couched in prayer
There Christmas will be good, its promise new
Revivified by His great love and care
What matters is that Christmas is the same
Where people kneel together in His name.
