  • My dog doesn't want to socialize?(Back to Top)
"Socializing" is very important in the development of character in your dog.
      It should begin at birth.
Caress your puppy gently with warm hands, and introduce them like you
would a child to the outside world.

  • Do you offer obedience training?(Back to Top)
Yes! Obedience training is available by appointment.

  • Are Chesapeake's aggressive?(Back to Top)
No! Chesapeake's have a very good disposition.
If anything they are assertive, not aggressive.

  • Is it better for my female to have one litter of puppies? (Back to Top)
If you are an ordinary family and not experienced, my advice to you
is have her spayed and leave it to the professionals. Your female may
not be suitable for this purpose.

  • What can you do if your child is very timid of your pet, and is afraid of being bitten?(Back to Top)
The following guidelines have been written by professionals in this field:

      a. Never touch a dog when he is feeding.
      b. Don't tease your dog.
      c. If chased by a dog while cycling, get off, place the
bike between you and the dog and look away.
      d. Never approach a dog when it is chained up. These are just a few tips.
Pick up a book on dogs at your local library for more tips.

  • Why does my dog turn round and round when he is about to go to sleep? (Back to Top)
When a dog is going to sleep, his instinct will tell him to turn his nose
in the direction that he considers being downwind. This way he can scent
      and smell danger.

  • Whenever I wash my dog the first thing he does is roll on the grass and gets
        himself all dirty again?
The dog's instinct tells him that you have washed away his identity; it is
very normal for dogs to carry out this kind of behavior. What I do when I
have washed my dog, I put her in an outhouse to dry off, then let her out,
she does not normally roll after that.

  • When my friends come to our home my dog keeps jumping up at them, how
        can I stop him?
(Back to Top) The best way to deal with this is to put him
away, and not allow him to "greet" your guests.
Whenever the bell rings, put him away, after a few days he will
automatically be ready to be put away. When your friends arrive and have settled,
he can then be brought into the room, on your terms. By bringing him into the room,
he now has to try to establish his status. Best not to look at him or talk to him for
a few minutes, I bet he will settle down within a few minutes!

  • My Chesapeake puppy has a funny spot on his tail, can you tell me why?(Back to Top)
Chesapeake's have a sebaceous gland in that spot that provides oil for their coat.
Sometimes the spot will loose hair or have a different texture to the hair this
is on all Chesapeake's. This may or not bleed with their natural coat.
