New Years Eve. Andrea, Barb, and I bought tickets to go to the Kiss-108 party at the Rotunda in Faneuill Hall. Andrea showed up to my house 3 hours late so we missed the dinner that we paid for. This also meant that we didn't get to eat any dinner at all. This is not good. We took a cab downtown and found the party, which was already in full swing. We got in line to buy some wine and decided to buy 2 glasses apiece since the lines were so long. Everyone was dancing so we finally got out there and even tried to do the Electric Slide, which I had no idea how to do. I don't think very many people knew how to do it either and we were all running into each other all over the place. Things get hazy after that. I remember some guy talking to us and somebody throwing a drink on him and him throwing a drink back onto someone. I think we each had a 1/2 glass of champagne as well. The funny thing is that I don't think we drank anymore than that yet we all got extremely drunk. We lost Andrea in the crowd somewhere and Barb kept running out the door, down the stairs and into an alley to get sick. I remember standing at the bar and having a cigarette and getting head spins real bad so I put the cigarette out. Once my head stopped spinning I would light up another one and they whole cycle would start over again. I think we should have eaten dinner. When it was time to leave I found Barb but we couldn't find Andrea. We looked everywhere for about an hour. By this time, almost everyone was gone. We went to the coat room and her coat was still there so she had to be somewhere around. Where did we see her last? On the dance floor? Seems like it but I'm not really sure and that was so long ago. She was dancing with some guy--did she leave with him? It doesn't seem like she would leave her coat behind though. After another hour or so of trying to find her we decided to head back to my house. We needed to get a cab but so did everyone else it seemed. The lines for cabs were so long around Faneuill Hall so we decided it would be easier to walk away from Faneuill Hall and grab a cab before it gets to everyone else. We're still feeling pretty sick and hazy and finally decide this isn't the best decision we could make so we went back to Faneuill Hall. As usual, I needed to run to the bathroom. There is a public bathroom downstairs there so we went in there. Not too much of a line but still most of the stalls were filled. Just to be sure, I checked under the doors to see if the stalls were empty or not. Look at that! I seem some familiar shoes! The same shoes that Andrea had shown us before we left my house--she had just bought them that day. I yelled out (the way you do when you've had too much to drink) "Andrea? Andrea Takvorian?" The response back was sort of a groan but I knew it was her! We finally found her. Unfortunately, she wasn't ready to go anywhere for a while. I'm not sure what Barb was doing at this point but I decided to go outside and lay down on the steps to rest for a bit. You know how you're not really sleeping but not really awake? That was my state at some point when I heard people talking about me. I think they thought I was a bum and they were feeling sorry for me, having to sleep outside on some steps. In my head I'm yelling "but I'm wearing a fur coat--I'm not homeless!!" Not that they could hear that, but it made me feel a little better to think it. I'm not sure how much time had passed at this point but Andrea and Barb finally emerged from the bathroom and were ready to go home. We staggered over to the taxi stand and finally got a cab. It must have been around 4:00 am or so at this point. We piled into the cab, with me in the middle since the other 2 were much sicker than me, and we were on our way back to my place. It didn't take long before nausea crept back in and the other 2 were hanging out the windows getting sick, while the cabbie passed back tissues, and I got the giggles because I needed to get sick but was stuck in the middle with nowhere to lean out. We finally got home and to bed. (since I'm writing this many years later, I don't remember if they stayed at my house or actually drove home!)
