7th September (Diary according to Daniel Hiles)

Up for breakfast but they decide to serve it late and they also seem to have decided not to dry Tims washing. Still managed to catch train to Zagreb at 10:15. Arrived on time and met 2 girls (1 Aussie, 1 Brit) also looking for accomodation. Set off for hostel, bit dubious as Mike's book said that it has war refugees in the dorms. Our map had wrong road names but after asking local we found hostel pretty easily-weird guy refused to give us dorms so the only option was double rooms, fine but felt that we had been ripped off!! Room was really good, own bathroom etc (we are not used to luxuries like this!). After sorting our stuff out we head off for main square. Really quite impressed by Zagreb, nothing like I anticipated, really modern, clean and affluent. Followed guide book route, found strip of bars/restaurants which were surprisingly trendy-loads of young locals out (it was Friday night after all!). Afetr walk we settled for pizza/pasta and found restaurant, fairly cheap prices local beer (pivo) was £1. Had huge pizza. After meal we headed for a couple of bars, then home-we have to check out at 9am-God only knows why!!
