2nd September (Diary according to Daniel Hiles)

After best nights sleep since Saturday before we came away, up at 9:15 for breakfast, actually get more than 1 roll today. Pack and leave by 10am get to station and try to spend remaining cash. 10:58 train to Vienna delayed by 15mins but at least we thought to buy lunch for the train today. Arrived in Sudbahnhof, after 1 stop in wrong direction arrived at Westbahnhof. Found hostel, again after setting off in wrong direction, sorted stuff out and showered to go out. Had fairly long walk, found museums quarter after walking down main shopping street. The architecture is fantastic, some of the buildings are incredibly grand. Walk past Imperial Palace, Rathaus (city hall-most grand) parliament etc. Then past Votive church, also there is film festival on at city hall-large screen, bars etc. Find centimeter III, putenschnitzel-truly massive portions and we stuff ourselves, still only £4, I expected Vienna to be more expensive than this. After meal we are annoyed/unsurprised to see that it is raining (getting used to it!) but after a few mins and a bit of sheltering it stops. Back at city hall we watched opera on large screen-damn we're cultured! Head back to hostel and feel that we could probably 'do' Vienna the next day so may leave day early for Budapest
