The High School and College years.

I went to Hawaii in 1977. I was 14. It was a great time, but with
dark undertones. We did it as a last family trip before my mother passed
away from Cancer in 1978 when I had just turned 15.

I went to my first Charity Ball when I was 16. It was something I had
dreamed about for years. My mother was very involved with Kings Daughters
and I had helped since I was a child getting the decorations ready for the Ball,
so I felt so adult to be able to finally get to go.

I was lucky enough to be chosen one of 44 high school students out of 400 to
travel to Europe in 1980 with the Iowa Youth Chorale. I was (and still am)
a high soprano, one of only three in the choir. We were able to travel to
many countries and sing a two hour concert every night in beautiful churches and
cathedrals. It was a very memorable two weeks.

Graduation day 1981. What a wonderful time. Lots of memories, both
good and bad. I graduated from Fort
Madison Senior High.

Here is my senior picture. I weighed 165 pounds at that time, was 5'
10" and large boned like my father.
