November 2001 Summary

After September and October producing such good birds it was inevitable that November would be a bit quieter. However, the month started well with a Red-breasted Merganser, an unusual Sutton Bingham visitor, followed late on in the month with a female Goosander. A good month for sawbills. An adult winter plumaged Mediterranean Gull was present for an afternoon with the gull flock. A single Siskin was also a good find. The tail end of the month was much quieter, though duck numbers continued to rise, and no doubt the onset of the winter will mean lean birding for a couple of months.
