070701 » i swear we shared a *moment*

listening to | weezer \ the green album
feeling | happy happy! joy joy!

my area manager came into work today. apparently i have been with the company for 5 years! omg! 5 years! i can't believe it is that long! she brought with her a huuuuuuge bunch of flowers and a very fattening caramel sponge cake! woo for presents! the flowers are beautiful! i love flowers! why don't more people buy me flowers?

then she took photos of me to go in the company newsletter that is sent out to every store in the country. how embarassing. i bet i looked like crap.

wow! what a night last night was! mick hart played for about 2.5 hours. *sigh* he was absolutely awesome, even if he didn't blow up the pa tonight.

he played lilac wine, which i was very, very happy about. then, during his final song i noticed what i thought was a
jeff buckley lyric thrown in, but dismissed it as me being obsessed. that is, until my friend steph asked me afterwards if she was correct in hearing a line from jeff buckley's song "eternal life" during the song. *phew* i'm not in need of help just yet!

funny moment from the night: yukky drunk guy wearing a flanno up the front dancing with a quite attractive blonde. he kept looking at her seductively and it was very distracting! i kept wanting to laugh. i was sure i was going to have nightmares last night with him in them!

after the gig my friends and i went to talk to mick. we asked him about the line from "eternal life" and he said it was one he had always loved and that it was a bit of a tribute to jeff. this of course led to a conversation about jeff. mick and i bonded over jeff. we shared a *moment* mick saw jeff live - he was in the 2nd row at the gig he went to! we talked about the new live album and each raved about the version of "dream brother" on it.

i then lamented the fact that mick had not played "hymn l'amour" (this is an edith piaf song which jeff was also known to cover). mick then went on about edith piaf's lyrics and how the french have such a passion for words that it makes him want to throw all of his out. he told me that if i saw him at the annandale in sydney later this month before he heads off overseas, to write down "hymn l'amour" on a piece of paper and to place it in front of him to remind him to play it for me. he said he loves to perform the song - especially in france where the french go insane and sing along to every lyric.

then i told mick's sexy drummer jerry his porn moustache made him look like david arquette. he laughed and said i was the second person to tell him that. i think we also shared a moment when i asked him about girls trying to pick him up at gigs (was that subtle of me? lol).

i got to see pat rafter win match point against andre agassi after mick finished. there was a tv on the other side of the bar and match point came up when i was buying a beer. i yelled to my friend steph "oh my god it's match point!" when i did this, the girl who was serving me said "i'll be back in a second" and ran away to watch it! lol

oh, and the newcastle knights kicked the brisbane broncos arse 44-0! suck shite brisbanites! you can have your state of origin! teeheehee (yes, i did used to follow football, but i don't anymore. however, it still feels good to kick bronco butt!)

glenny brought presents to newcastle with him for me. this is what he gave me:

the titanics - set the controls for the heart of the sun (s)
mick hart - still the flowers bloom (ltd ed promo single)
speedstar - fallen star (ep)
gota cola - gota cola (ep)
custard - lucky star (single)

i went cd shopping today. this is what i bought:

beaumont street beat:

gomez - machismo (ep) $2.99
credit to the nation - tacky love song (s) $2.99 (i bought this merely because the band sampled radiohead's 'high and dry' for the song. no, i'm not obsessed.)

hmv:

the simpletons - f (s) $2 (this had a limited pressing on 1000 copies, and we didn't think they were actually distributed to stores. very, very happy with this. there is a song about ned flanders on it. :D)
hoolahan - king autumn $4.95
various - used & recorded by rrr, vol 2 $4.95 (woo, this has something for kate, you am i, the grifters, ween, the mark of cain and more on it!)
the grifters - ain't my lookout $4.95

soundworld:

starsailor -good souls/fever (s) $9.25 (omg! i love these guys! though i would love anyone who loves tim and jeff buckley as much as i do!)
the john butler trio - jbt (ep) $11.95
weezer - the green album $21.95
plus my favourite cd in the world as a present for a friend... i think it is about the 10th copy of that cd i have ever bought.

jb hi-fi:

screamfeeder - kitten licks $3.99 (jono and glenny got the last two cheap copies of screamfeeder's "rocks on the soul" cd for $12.99 each. i searched the entire shop for another one, but the only other ones they had were for $21.99. kmart has the album for $19.95 so i wasn't going to waste $2!)
portishead - dummy $9.99
blur - 13 $12.99
nick drake - bryter layter $7.99
jimi hendrix - experience hendrix (best of) $7.50

that's 19 new cd's for me! i'm in such a good mood now! cd shopping always makes me happy. especially when i get bargains like i did today! woo! *yay* for cd sales! i did not pay full price for a single cd! :D

i kept getting these weird homey text messages from a girl named 'duz' thisafternoon. lol. she sent me 2 or 3 and asked if i am one of her friends and to message her back if i am. but i'm not her friend, so i'm not going to message her back. unfortunately she seems to have finished sending me messages now though.

aol is a biatch and i don't think i can be bothered getting it in order to chat to jen. it keeps telling me all the nicks i try to register are taken... and i don't want some stupid dumb gay name! plus, i already have 3 chat programs, and i think that is more than enough.

get irc jen! even though i don't use it much at all anymore, i will if you are there!

i just got off the phone to my friend cam in sydney. he has 3 spare tool tickets. they are seated tix, but it means i can now go! woo! *dances* plus they are good seated tickets. corey is going to take one of the other three. anyone else wanna come with me? we are still after a 3rd person.

i'm so happy! happy! happy! happy!

days without a fag (ooers hehe hmmm nevermind): 76
