Thailand Sites GuideWelcome to Thailand paragliding sites guide. S.E.T. Thailand had made a lot of expedition and found many good paragliding sites in Thailand. This guide is useful for visitors who wish to enjoy flight in Thailand. Due to communication problem between visitors and local people as English is not our mother tongue. It is recommended that in order to make the best use of your time while visiting Thailand. How to get thereBy car: Travel on Highway No. 4 towards Petchburi, Prachuab - 19 Kms. before reaching Choomporn - on the left side you will see Khao Pang. You can ask for an entrance to Khao Pang at PTT gas station. Journey time is 5 to 6 hours from Bangkok. We normally use the PTT gas station as our meeting point. If you do not prefer to drive, you can travel by bus and get off at PTT gas station. Or, if you like, you can travel by train - get off at Choomporn and take a taxi to Khao Phang (about 20 kms.). Take off area is about 4 kms. from PTT Gas Station. By train: Start from Hua Lumpong (Bangkok railway station) By bus: Start from Southern Bus terminal After arrival in Chumporn, take a taxi to Khao Pang. Taxi cost is approximately Bht100.- Khao Pang locates on the coastal line facing to the East and West direction. We can fly all year round except when it rains which falls on December to January. From November to April will be North-East wind and from May to October will be South-West wind. Best time is in from February to October. For the best fly, please contact S.E.T. before your travel. [Back to Top]Flight InformationKhao Pang has a ridge of 3.5 kms. Gliding along the ridge will be a good flight. Thermal and a consistent wind flow from the beach makes a very relax fly at Khao Pang.
Landing areas are fruits and vegetable fields of local people who give us full support. In case the landing damage the fruits/vegetables - pilot is requested to settle certain damage cost to the land-owner. Khao Pang has a hight of 270 metres and the highest measured at 295 metres above the sea level. Take off area is approx 200 metres above the ground level. AccommodationChoomporn is one of the tourist towns. There are many accommodations - near the beach or in town at the cost from Bht300 to Bht3,000. Camping is also available at the landing area, with a little expense for water which is very expensive there. Rest room and kitchen, belongs to the land owner are allowed to used by visitors. Recommended Hotel is Chumporn Grand Palace Hotel. Room rate Bht.385.-only FoodIf you come in a group, you can ask the local people, living near by to cook for your group. PTT gas station also serve some food. For dinner it is recommended to have at the sea food restaurant named Looi. This restaurant locates at Sai Ree Beach - about 30 minutes’ drive from site. There are also accommodation available at this restaurant. You can also drive into town - there are many eating places waiting for you. RecordKhao Pang is a new location, the first trial was made on 2/11/97 by Suwat Hannarong. We are waiting for the experienced pilots to visit Khao Pang for our records. PrecautionSurrounding area of Khao Pang is rice field, pineapple and other plant. You have to carefully landing. In any case if the plant is damaged, compensate in term of money is to be made to the land owner. FeeKhao Pang is a public place, consequently no charge at the moment. How to get thereBy car: It takes only two and a half hours from Bangkok Airport - follows the Highway No. 1. On arrival at Saraburi, turn off to Highway No. 2 facing to Nakorn Rajsrima. Straight on - pass the Lum Takong Dam until the km 201, next to PTT and Star Gas Station on the left side there will be a sign telling way to Voyage Panorama Resort and Golf Club, turn left. Then follow the sign for Voyage By train: Start from Hua Lumpong (Bangkok railway station) By bus: Start from Northern Bus terminal (Talad Mochit) After arrival at Sikhiu, take a taxi to Voyage. Taxi cost is approximate Bht100.- Khao Sadao faces to the South - we can’t fly through out the year. Time for flying is from February to November. The best timing is from end of February to April. For the safe side, please contact S.E.T. Thailand before your travel Landscape of Khao Sadao is look like a bowl. Pilots can glide along the ridge. Due to a dry field on the ground, thermal is there to assist pilot for more high altitude gain up. Take OffTake off area is a flat place, enough for three pilots to take off at the same time. The place is gradually steep down the hill. This makes a very safe take off in case of any mistake while taking off. LandingThere are many alternative landing places - the field infront of take off or at the old golf court which is approx. 1km. from landing to the east. This makes it easy to be picked up. For experienced pilot - landing can be at the Club House of Voyage Panorama Resort or at the top Northern direction of take off area. HeightKhao Sadao is approx 550 meters height above sea level and the peak is 575 meters . Take Off area is about 220 meters height above ground level at the bottom. AccommodationYou can choose to stay at the Voyage Panorama Resort. Room rate is at Bht 1,500/night. Or, if you prefer, camping is available at the take off area. Visiting pilots are requested to pay for area entrance - no other charge required for camping. FoodVoyage Panorama Resort has coffee shop which offers food with reasonable cost. For pilots who prefer to do the camping - S.E.T. staff can assist in buying some fresh food for self-cooking (BBQ stove is available). RecordNo current record at the moment. PrecautionKhao Sadao is very dry surrounding area. So some day will be rough condition and strong thermal. In case landing on plants please compensate to farmer.
