My youngest brother was molested by his psychiatrist while he was on the hospitals psychiatric ward. He had been depressed and entering puberty, which was very confusing for him. He had Manic-Depressive Disorder which is a very dibilating desease, made worse by the hormonal changes his body was going through.
This so called "doctor" had been molesting young boys for many years. As with most pedophiles, he had been very careful in picking his victims, looking for the boys who were on the ward by court orders, or what is called "throw aways" that passed through between foster homes. He made sure there wasn't a father in the picture to catch on to what he was doing. Without a father, his patients were vulnerable to his "fatherly" guise. He would single them out and pay vey special attention to them, always telling them how good looking and attractive they were. Pedophiles use many masks to hide the evil that they do. His guise was as a father figure, and used his position as their doctor to keep them from telling, they were told that they wouldn't be believed because they were "crazy" and would never get out of the psychiatric unit without his permission. The power he had over them was very strong, and worked very well for many years.

The pedophile that molested my brother was convicted and sent to prison, but for only five years. After his release, he began volunteering for childrens organizations such as the Boy Scouts and Future Farmers of America. He held rifle training seminars for boys as young as nine years old. He has continued to attempt to lure boys by any means possible even though he has been court ordered not to have any contact with children. The state can't watch these people 24 hours a day. They are out on the streets with only one thing on their minds, and that is to victimize another child. The trauma these children go through at the hands of these predators is horrendous. The victims suffer for the rest of thieir lives, while the pedophile goes on to traumatize another innocent child.

We must unite and force the politicians to face the facts that the way the system is treating pedophiles is only causing more damage to our most vulnerable citizens, our children. There have been some changes, Megan's Law is of some help, but the pedophile should not be released into a society filled with innocent children! We need to find a new way to sentence these predatory animals so they never again have the opportunity to torture our babies! Pedophiles cannot be "cured"! They need to be kept behind bars forever! The "rights" they use to be released should be rescended when they are convicted of this most horrifying crime. There is no place in our society for them!
